Imma be real. 2 grown men that’d be considered “cool” “hard” “athletic” can come together over intellectual entertainment. That’s what society needs more of. Hip hop uniquely gives an avenue for what I call intellectual entertainment. Movies can be etc point is. Poetry is hip hop. Artists like nf. And watsky. I put into a brand of hip hop I’d say is more poetry based. All songwriting especially hip hop is poetry. Tech n9ne is extremely extremely structured. Point is nf and watsky their lyrics are more like deep poems painting pictures and emotions making u think critical etc etc. . there’s plenty of rappers who do this on occasion. But. Very few do it as like t heir style. Intellectualism is dead. Hip hop is embedded in it. Rant over. Good for society lol

NF is a strong Christian. In the last book of the New Testament, “Revelations” the author, John writes 7 letters to 7 churches in Asia Minor and Greece and the letters are telling of our great hope to come, referring to Christ second coming. NF is asking if he will ever find Christ. Christ is continuously said as the One who can only bring everlasting peace. In the 7 letters it says that Christ is our hope and that he will bring freedom from this world. Many may look at this and think I’m reaching, but all of NFs songs from the album connect. Listen to the album with the lens on that he is talking about Christ and everything will begin to make sense and connect. You hit the nail on the head; he's a rapper who happens to be Christian. He's always done a good job of not getting super religious with his music, so even non-Christians can listen and not feel like they're having religion forced on them. To me, it seems like he hit rock bottem after the last album (-Interlude-) and a lot of one-off lines give us insight into that. This whole album kinda has a vibe that he hit his low point, and he sees his faith as his only way to pull himself out of his pit. Look at the end of the music video for 'Leave Me Alone', he's handing off his burdens to god. In 'Changes', he has the line about going from suicidal to trying to change and talk to god. This is a deep album, but I think a lot of people are missing some of the depth.
