My parents were married for 15 yrs before they divorced & as far back as I can recall, all they did was fight; when they divorced, they still fought & my dad turned his bs onto me. He made me feel like crying in front of him was a weakness & there were times when they both used me as if I was their therapist (mostly my dad till I finally got fed up & moved out, my mom more so when she was drunk). When my dad passed it felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders & I fear that when my mom one day passes, it’ll feel the same way too. With my dad, I felt like I couldn’t cry in front of him-even though I badly wanted to feel safe enough to; with my mom, It always feels like everything I do/say or don’t do/don’t say is wrong & I can NEVER express my true opinion/feels-always have to hold back or it results in fighting & someone one’s feelings being hurt.

In an interview with Josh Gad, he was asked if this song was about Elsa revealing her sexuality. He replied by saying that it's more about Elsa learning to love herself. I feel that's a very important message to people! It's true that whatever person you're attracted to is a part of you, but it shouldn't be what defines you. What is most important is how you think about yourself. As someone who has extreme self-esteem issues and anxieties, this really hits me hard. (My therapist once said that it gets harder to love others when you don't even love yourself) I'm not trans, but I understand what it feels like to not be true to yourself and let the world try to tell you who to be. "Show Yourself" is a wonderful example of understanding and loving yourself for who you truly are inside. I don't know what the plans for Elsa's sexuality are, but as long she is perfectly happy with who she is, especially after she went through so many lonely years of fear and self-doubt, that is all I hope for! I have a couple of trans friends, the joy and sense of freedom coming from them is so infectious that you can't help but want to feel that same emotion of confidence and self love! To me, Pride Month is not just the colorful summertime party that some people claim it to be, it's about the people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate their differences and be joyful in being true to themselves. I adore this video because, as Elsa expresses what she learned in this song, there is nothing wrong with being who we are and no one is dangerous or a mistake for being themselves. We are each a gift to the world and have a responsible to make it a better place for everyone, just as Elsa was a gift from Nature to protect others and fix the wrong doings of the past. I'm really sorry for the long comment. (I'm usually too nervous to comment like this on YT) But this video really hit my heart and I had to express my thoughts and feelings. So, yeah. Wonderful video! Sorry to bother.
