For whomever cares, blitzing a 2v1 gives 37%; manualling gives the odds of 15/36, which is roughly 42%. Manualling improves odds by about 4.5%

@@noctusfury6918 So is there a reason why the game doesn't just buff 2v1 to 42%?
@noctusfury6918
@noctusfury6918 9 ай бұрын
@@debott4538 I'm not sure. I'm assuming that blitzing gives the attacker greater firepower or increases the speed of his attacks *(which can be favorable with 40s-60s timers)* but decreases the chances of him winning against the defender if it's 2v1. As one might expect, defenders often win in a 2v1 advantage due to the defender always winning tied rolls *(unless you get REALLY LUCKY on the dice rolls).* So I'm guessing that the game debuffs an attacker's chances when they blitz, but they increase their chances when they manually do it, which allows the attackers to regain some of their lost control over the dice rolls *(though they're technically controlled by the game mechanics itself).* However, I wouldn't attack a territory with 2v1 unless I was super confident in my dice rolls. Other than that, I would do 3v1 instead, unless circumstances prevented me. This is regardless of whether it's computer/mobile or the physical board game.

I would like a semi progressive mode, sets 5-6-7-8-9-10-12-14-16-18-20-22-25-28-31-34-37-40-45-50, then +5. So turn order wouldn't matter as much, and bonuses still semi relevant, but game wouldn't stalemate like fixed.

TBF the australia position was kinda a win for green. He placed 2nd by not being a threat but also being just barely strong enough to not be worth killing. There was no reality where a beginner like him won but with his strat it lets him gather a ton of points!

I mean dont you get points for 2nd place especially if your lower ranked? I am convinced half the 'masters' in risk have only mastered getting 2nd place using this method. Its not even a super hard method to use.@@TheKillPeteStrategy

Would you say green locking their stack and skipping a card were the two defining factors that got them second and not third from your POV/strategy/methodology, green’s POV, and a general/spectator/neutral point of view?
@jesusfrreak2
@jesusfrreak2 9 ай бұрын
I think this is actually a good point, their passiveness, locked troops and lack of cards made them seem like a less enticing kill which got them second here
@TheKillPeteStrategy

The most significant thing green did was remove the killguard on blue when I needed it. I don't think they were intentionally playing for second I think that's just how it ended up

Yea cap rolls are broken. I had a guy roll his 150 stack into my 100 cap and he only lost 60 troops. Made it impossible for me to recover with my set because he got insane dice.

Pete, you need to will yourself to be less sick, no allergies, no colds. we need you for risk. Feel better sir! It was amazing to watch people just fight for all the wrong things, and not realize what they have available to them. Blue both gave himself up to be killed, and no one was willing to take it until you, a whole turn/round went by. At these low levels they just play terrible, it seems just an inevitability. whereas at the high level, it seems like it comes down to sometimes lucky cards/positioning, or sometimes just emotions, people making bold plays or revengeful plays. as we'd say in the magic the gathering space it's much more the Politcking at the table.

So Pete you've spoken about the ranking system being broken. How do you feel about a seperate ranking system for each game mode? For example you could be a beginner in 1v1 but a grandmaster in ffa prog. And each game node requires the exact same points system to get to those rankings.

Hey Pete and everyone else, I was wondering, do you think classic progressive tends to attract worse players than other modes? I tend to win about 60-70% of the games I play on classic progressive while I am a pretty average player on other modes, however I don’t think I have a large enough sample size and maybe it has been just luck. What do you think?

i don't necessarily think that reworking how the lobbies are created and booted up would make that much of a difference for how fast they fill. The main problem is the steady decline in the player-base itself. this year alone through steam, the average player count per month is roughly 1950 players. this game is a virtual board game and is more suited as a party game with friends, so id say majority of that player-base is playing private lobbies. i was curious just how this game faired on twitch and from what ive seen there is little to no viewership for risk besides from you and kylted. i just checked it now and there is currently 35 total viewers across 7 streamers. Until a new hype for the game happens, i could see the progression from the devs slow down compared to how they were doing it the last couple years. the viewership along with how ranked is setup where you can play any rank in any game instead of people your own rank, and the "World Championships" have no funding from SMG besides a Risk boards and some gems in their game, is what in my opinion is slowing this game down heavily. And all those will coincide with each other to boost each other. we seen it in the kill pete open. biggest tourney ever. why? because of an actual prize pool. SMG puts some sort of funding into their tourneys with boost the player count, and with a functional ranking system of players ONLY playing people their rank, will make this game actually grow pass a party game. the way the ranking system is setup now is just casual with a number. changing how much you gain/lose isnt the way to fix the ranking system.
