Let's Active was such a GREAT band. I saw them way-back-when in the 1980s, and they were a band you could not only love, but feel proud of if you were from NC. It's difficult to comprehend that the lovely woman on bass in this video, Faye Hunter, has left the world.

These guys present a great little nugget encapsulating music coming out of the Triad of North Carolina in the 1980s. Many kids were looking for something different at this time in America, particularly in the South. Disco was going strong on one side, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty on the other. Bands like this and their musical brethren in Athens, GA, were instrumental in forging a new direction of Southern rock music. Some of the Triad-area contributors to this movement were: Archers of Loaf, dBs, anything w/ Peter Holsapple, Superchunk, Ben Folds Five, Subculture, Dillon Fence, The Connells, Flat Duo Jets and Southern Culture on the Skids. Check all of them out. Just my 2 cents.

I can't believe I'm commenting on a comment from almost a decade ago. Back in the 80's, sometimes I would buy albums because of the label they were on, even if I'd never heard any of their stuff or even knew who they were. I.R.S was one of those labels. Scored a lot of great music because of that. $2.99 in the delete bin, on I.R.S.? Sure why not. I have a copy of Lets Active - Big Plans For Everybody because of that, basically a Mitch Easter solo album that is really good.
