I saw I wasn't in the decklist and I got super worried. Thankfully, I qualify as a "reasonable upgrade", and as such I'm in both the upgraded deck and the reasonable upgrades only. Anyway, as of this posting, my lowest TCGPlayer market price is $3.05 for my Fifth Dawn printing. I don't know when I'll be reprinted again, but I make a great gift for decks of all ages!

Jodah is probably my favorite deck I've built and it started off budget and turned into a pet deck that got constant upgrades to mana and color fixing. Now it's got a "core" and about 15 cards I change back and forth to switch how it plays. The original is a combo deck and the next is a creature heavy smash face. You're able to do anything with him and if you're able to devote the funding to mana/fixing he can even hover close to CEDH

Jodah is favourite of mine. I find he lets me relive the old days when edh decks were so often a pile of 7+ mana craziness we found in the lgs discount bin. Mana curve? What's that? Just keep chucking ultimatums until the other guy falls over! Now of course there's a little more to it than that, and my own personal deck runs some pretty recognizable format staples, but there's something very refreshing about a commander who's plan A generally involves casting stuff with absurd mana costs. Repeatedly.
@HiroZeroVirus

effects like sunburst when the cmcs are less than 5 are pretty fun with this concept. Pentad Prism SHOULD etb with max 2 counters, netting you 2 mana but with Jodah, it would enter with 5 and allow you to crack off another casting. i know there are other cards that care about colors of mana used to cast it, but sunburst is the only keyword what comes to mind at the moment.

One of actually mine paper decks is Jodah deck, having over 6 wincon combos from which one is infinite turn. (which is a 2 cards combo. Actually 3, but to have really long turn you'd just need 2 of those cards and the third one will eventually show up during these turns)

@@Turn2Ugin Those two cards? Well, one of them is bringer of the black dawn, so you can tutor for mext card. That next card is really any extra turn card that is after resolving shuffled to the library. (beacon of tomorrows in my case) As for life gain to make it infinite. Good is twilight prophet (tutor for beacon the resolve the prophet, therefore gaining 8 life while dealing 8 and drawing extra card each extra turn), or also Zacama.

This combo doesn't work surely? The spell is resolving, you can't interrupt the spells resolution with abilities, even if they should trigger, no? Edit: Gatherer ruling; 15/10/2006: Anything that triggers during the resolution of this will wait to be put on the stack until everything is put onto the battlefield and resolution is complete. The ruling does carry on but this is fairly self explanatory to me, Hypergenesis is still resolving as the clone goes to ETB, meaning it's trigger goes onto the stack while Hypergenesis is still resolving. You can't interrupt resolution with other abilities, meaning this combo can't work. Double edit: how could the clone trigger the Sphinxs as Enters ability when it's own as Enters ability needs to resolve first?
@Shpee1
@Shpee1 3 жыл бұрын
the rescuer sphinx and the clones abilities arent actually triggered abilities, they dont use the stack at all so the abilties occur during the hypergenesis resolution

I’ve built this deck and absolutely love it. One question though that came up in a game a had with it recently: I played Hypergenesis, put out my impact tremors, then played Clone, Rescuer Sphinx, then clone again. My opponent caught on, then put out a creature with “When this creature enters the battlefield, destroy target creature,” targeting my Clone. I realize that its ability enters the stack while Hypergenesis is technically still resolving, so when does that creature destroy my creature? Would it trigger after Hypergenesis resolves, when that creature is put onto the field, or the next time it becomes their turn to put a permanent onto the field?

Jodah is the shit. Other than the new Jared Carthalion, and maybe whichever God is representing Thor coming out in Kaldheim, Jodah has always been a Commander I've brewed and tried to tweak and perfect. Because of the trigger, it won’t work. The effects need to happen as the creature enters, because otherwise hypergenesis can’t be interrupted for the triggers if you want hypergenesis to keep going
@mdchiesi
@mdchiesi 3 жыл бұрын
Hey I have a question about the core combo you mentioned here. According to Gatherer, good news, you basically get to put creatures into play infinitely as long as you want. Other players don't have to put them in for you to keep putting them in, it waits for all players to stop putting in permanents. all the etb's from Impact Tremors would NOT resolve until after Hypergenesis has resolved, though. gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/details.aspx?name=Hypergenesis So you put your triggers on the stack, but then once you're "done" any other etb's from your opponents would then go on the stack. The combo assumes they don't remove one of your key components during the process. I think any removal would stop the damage from building (either removing impact tremors, or one of the creatures). Am I understanding it right? So you might need to reclaim the phoenix somehow if someone disrupted things. I guess that's why you have the graveyard to hand spells and return exiled card to hand spells. Anyhow, defo looking to build Jodah soon (proxy) as my Dune deck : ) Might be able to work this in since I could maybe count the phoenix in as a Guild Navigator/genetic manipulation and the dune series definitely has a lot of clones with the Tleilaxu
@mmlgamer
@mmlgamer 3 жыл бұрын
By the time Hypergenesis is done resolving, you should have a billion Impact Tremors triggers on the stack and you won’t need anything else.
@mdchiesi
