Something along the lines of John Tenniel's illustrations from Alice in Wonderland. Perhaps Alice with the Cheshire Cat in the tree or for something with lots of crazy details, the Mad Hatter's tea party.

@RandomMakingEncounters I posted this before I got to the part where you cut the door and window, so maybe some other scenes where those might apply. Maybe the one at the dinner where the Red Queen introduces Alice to the leg of mutton.
