I'm glad you're going to have a long engagement! That'll give you plenty of time to enjoy just being engaged. It drove me a little crazy how, as soon as we got engaged, people started asking about setting the date. Then when we got married, it was, "When are you going to have kids?" Like, can I just take a minute to appreciate where we are at this moment? Damn. We wanted to do a very small wedding, and we had decided to get married at the courthouse but hire a professional photographer and do a reception after. WELL. When I called my parents to tell them what we were thinking, my dad hung up on me. 😑 So we totally let them manipulate the situation. We had a beautiful wedding, don't get me wrong. I just sometimes wish we had stuck to what we wanted.

First off- congratulations to you and Matt! So excited for you guys and this next chapter. Also- as far as wedding planning videos goes- I like the idea of doing dedicated videos and a playlist. I think it’s kind of like pregnancy content, like it’ll naturally come up some in vlogs, but I think if you title it accordingly, then it’s easier for people like myself to find in the next year or so or farther down the road when we (hopefully need/ want it) and then you avoid people complaining about you only doing wedding content/ them not liking it because it has a clear title too :)

Congratulations Carter and Matt 🎉 Just one thing if you go to Europe one week might be too short especially if it’s your first time experiencing jet lag (it can be brutal). Also, Paris is a lot of fun but not relaxing 😎 you could always go to the South of France or a small Italian town afterwards. Brugge Belgium is beautiful too (very underrated) and romantic (they call it the Venice of the North).

Saw something that reminded me of you - if you don't decorate your home the way you would like because of the effect it may have on the resell value you're really renting it from future tenants.

I agree and disagree with this! While I think it's true to some extent, we knew we would be in this home for only a few years! When "flipping" a home ESPECIALLY a covid house (aka overpaying for it) you really have to take into consideration renovations & resale value. People who bought in the pandemic may have low interest rates but bought for over asking & in order to even break even/make money selling in a different market, your house has to be attractive to others. It doesn't mean we don't love our home or we fixed it up in a way that wasn't our style/preference, it just seems really silly to put extra time/effort into cultivating your dream home when you're only going to be in there 1-2 years. We still LOVE this first house so much but as home owners who are doing a "slow flip" aka over a few years, you HAVE to consider resale value thats just how it is

If you do go for Europe maybe try to aim for late summer/super early autumn as the rain can really put a downer on long trips and that can tend to start from Sept/Oct! Also while you're over this way try to get a few days in the countryside of Ireland North & South (don't waste too much time in Dublin it's expensive and crowded) - lots of people think of France/Spain when they think of Europe but it really is amazing here there isn't anything like it!

We plan on coming back to Europe more than once! Since it's our first time overseas we don't want to do the whole 2-3 week stint and travel to multiple countries all in one go. But we do plan on doing England, Ireland, Germany etc over the years just not all at once!

Im finally catching up and congratulations!! Im enagged as well and was planning a "micro wedding/intomate wedding with less than 50" but we've had some issues and people giving ideas off of ours trying to suggest a different venue etc.. my fiance wants to elope and im open to it but nervous about our parents. My husband and I spent around 15K CAD for 90 person wedding So 10K is feasible (or under) We also got very lucky with the amount venue That being said we did it in Quebec and it’s generally cheaper there (perhaps because of the French 😅).
