I have read the Arachne story when I was making a chracter that's all about spiders and using their silk instead of silkworm silk as a rivalry thing because the character has a twin and she is all abou the more accessable silk and making clothing out of it but he liked spider silk because it was just cool to him. So the way you talked about how a spider can be a fight against censorship is such a cool way of looking at it and I'll totally do some rewritting into that backstory, it just sparked so much inso juice.
