Let's Drag Race the Paragon - ZZ8 vs XR7 || N3 Boatworks

New for the 2020 model year is the ZZ8 Engine from PCM. The ZZ8 is a Supercharged 6.2L Direct Injection motor making 604HP and 608 ft/lb of torque. It will replace the XR7 motor from PCM. We had the opportunity to compare both engines side by side in the all new G23 Paragon.

The bow rise on these things is crazily minimal. Love the fact that Nautique dealers have this kind of knowledge and are so informed as to what their boats can do. This boat is mental and definitely the best wake boat in the world

Great video, the explanation was excellent. Thank you for being the only boat channel to include raw engine sound and no/minimal music overlay. Any chance you have done/will do a 2019 Malibu MLX review? I'm prob gonna buy one soon, just wanted to hear your take on it!

Ben if we get a MLX in we will shoot it. N3 is a Nautique, Centurion, Supreme dealership so some boats we do not run across. With that said we do have 500+ videos of boats we have had in stock so searching a boat name and N3 Boatworks you should be able to see if we have videoed one.

I would bet if you speak to the Nautique factory, they will discourage you from recommending the 17 x 17 prop on the ZZ8. Because the 1.48 transmission will become overstressed with that prop running under surf and wakeboard loads.

Was there any noticeable difference in the amount of lean due to the larger diameter prop and greater torque with the ZZ8 package?

Craig Burbidge great question. I was wondering the same thing. When test and driving I did not notice a difference in balance or wake/wave which surprised me.

Is the ZZ8 covered under warranty with the 17x17 prop mounted? It would be great to have that option for cruising. Thank you!

You can change the prop (anytime).... you just dont want to overpitch, which would be unlikely with the power and diameters available... you'd have to add a lot of pitch (oversquare), which is counter-intuitive to wake sports
