I purchased the 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited Nocturnal Black, I drove down to see my Daughter who lives in Ocoee, FL from Chili, NY it cost me one way $65.00 with a half a tank left. My wife wanted to upgrade her 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid SEL Portofino Grey to a 2022 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited Calypso Red, so I bought her one for her Anniversary present. Within seven weeks I upgraded to a new 2022 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited Nocturnal Black because of the upgrades they made over my 2021. We have owned five Hyundai's to date and are very happy with these vehicles, really impressive cars, that’s my opinion and we have no regrets.

I totally wanted to buy a 2016 sxl, because weirdly enough, Kia optioned out that version of Optima better than the higher level Cadenza, which is what I have. The only benefit for the Cadenza at that point is the large size and 290 hp v6.

This is a great looking car. Great review! This beats the Sonata’s interior and exterior in my opinion. The braking needs serious engineering changes.That gas mileage is awesome. The visibility out the front window is great. The new driving aids are getting close to making these cars autonomous. The hybrid is likely what I’d choose, because of the gas mileage. The voice controls are a safe way to adjust the temperature.

The hybrids have a different transmission vs the ICE cars, 6 speed vs 8 speed, and the remote parking assist (Smart Park) only works with the 8 speed.

Man the new hybrid set up seems the way to go - great mileage, good pickup, 6 speed auto vs CVT ... Not sure why anyone would go with the gas only engines - other than cost, but you didn't reference how the price of the hybrid compares to the gas models. I'm also curious whether/ how much mpg suffers if yo eschew vthe solar roof & choose a moon roof. Kia Optima hybrid will cost you about (direct conversion) about $4.3K more compared to regular model. @Tong Zhang Ya i get hitting people happens, usually a cause for it, just saying ur insurance should pay for damages to a car like this, i wouldnt have liability only on a vehical thats this much, sure a 3k crapper, but a 20k+ car should have full coverage. If u hit someone ur paying ur deductable anyways, and if someone hits u, their insurance pays u. So an issue like a weird bumper sku makes no sense to me. Unless ur referring to after market parts but who puts body kits on hybrids... I havnt hit anyone in the last 800k miles. People have hit me tho, never had to search a junkyard to save on parts, their insurance was going to pay and put on new parts for my vehicals. Also thats the other thing, junkyards work great for odd parts if ur looking to save money and pay cash for hitting someone, go that route before going to dealer. I was putting some 2x4x10 in my prius 8years ago, just tapped the gps screen, cracking it, dealer wanted 3200 for just the part... junkyard 230 with shipping... cheaper than aftermarket radio even and trading it in they never blinked.

What's the total combined mile range on the Optima hybrid, sir? Is is better or worse than the Hyundai Hybrid???.... I know the Hyundai hybrid is at 680 miles...

Charlie, another great review. My personal preference would be the Sonata Hybrid. Aesthetically I believe the Sonata is a better looking vehicle. Although I will admit that if the Azera comes to the USA for 2022 and that Hybrid is anything like the Sonata in efficiency I would buy it. Doesn’t the Grandeur have a hybrid now in Korea. How efficient is it and is that hybrid system the same as what is in the Sonata and Optima? Thanks again, Ed

Which car has more interior room on the drivers side, Sonata or Optima? I prefer the look of the Optima, but it sounds like Sonata has better adaptive cruise control, so I may make a decision depending on comfort. Side note, I don't believe the solar roof is worth it. Throwing numbers out there, if a turbo charged Optima gets 32 miles per gallon (guesstimate) on the highway, that extra 800 miles would be 25 gallons worth saved per year, which really isn't worth the sacrificing a panoramic sun roof IMO.

They are very similar, but i think Hyundai Sonata has more headroom on the driver's side. Well, yes, but i guess something to show off to friends when you buy this all new Kia Optima and it does really work. Thank you. I really dislike touch sensitive buttons. Regular buttons are much better while driving. You can feel it you don't need to use your eyes as much. I am a subscriber.this channel is great.

This giant module for the automatic rear mirror is horrible, looks bigger than the one in my Stinger and i hate it. This thing blocks the view on traffic lights, its realy annoying and i wonder why they still using it. Apart from that the new Optima seems to be a realy great car.

i personally like the hybrid model better over 1.6L turbo. But 1.6L turbo is very fun car, too. So, if you want efficient sedan choose hybrid, but if you want a fun car then choose 1.6L turbo. Thanks Tom.
