I enjoyed Season 1 of Futurama near-enough in its entirety... But I was enamoured with Futurama anyway, since I got the first four boxsets in like reverse order. I don't know why. I'd certainly agree that Space Pilot 3000 (neat, informative title) was hardly "in-stride", but the first half of the season seemed very attached to establishing the concept and a theme of culture shock in adjusting to the future. Once that was done and all the major supporting characters introduced and arcs established, we got into the "in-stride" phase of taking the setting as read and acting in that setting.

There is such a thing as lever action weapons. The 1887 model shotgun in Terminator 2 is an example of one, although the actual gun they used wasn't lever action originally. But such guns nevertheless exist.
@natsume-hime24738 жыл бұрын
How about every Winchester, Henry Rifle, and a huge selection of Browning rifles made to clone Winchesters. Those were the first rifles that used modern cartridges. Edit: The Browning clones have a geared lever action that's far more reliable than the Winchester standard too. They also drop the whole trigger assembly when you crank the lever, so you can't accidentally fire the gun while loading a new cartridge.
@Mutant19888 жыл бұрын
They weren't confused about them existing. They just couldn't find the term they were looking for referring to the gun in the game.
@natsume-hime24738 жыл бұрын
Mutant1988 Indeed I responded to the post before I hit that point in the video. Fun facts, bolt action shotguns are a thing, as are some pump action rifles, also lever action shotguns are pretty much limited to a maximum shell size of 12 gague. A 10 gague or larger is far too hard to eject from a lever action and you need an extremely robust action.

The thing I liked greatly about Fallout 4's stripped down dialog was showing that actions speak louder than words. Playing all the factions against each other, basically being a quadruple agent, was incredible. They really upped the spy theme introduced with the Railroad. And one of the most annoying features of FNV was murdering some rando Legion group, leaving no survivors, yet having infamy gained with the faction ... who snitched? My companion? Contrast that with Battle of Bunker Hill, where I went in, murdered every BoS and Institute combatant, saving the escaped synths ... and then bullshitting Shaun in order to keep working with the Institute. That was incredibly satisfying. And dropping the Karma was a great choice. Because being reminded that in one run I was ultimately a really bad player-character would have been ultra-annoying ... that being the playthrough when I first used the Railroad to wipe out the BoS, then returned to RR HQ, got their reward, then turned my weapons on them and wiped them out.
@ChrisSauce778 жыл бұрын
Fair point Wata Shi, and I recognize that fans of the RPG genre desire a wider choice of reactions than what one normally would get from a particular actor and character designer's interpretation of the situation. I'm used to playing sandbox shooters like the GTA and Saints Row series, so being given only a couple voice actors and having the player marry themselves to a particular character and their reactions and actions isn't out of the ordinary. What it does do is make the player's reaction subjective. Case in point for myself, in GTA 4, I really enjoyed Niko Bellic's character and his limited choices because the story was pretty solid as far as games go. But when I got a little bit into GTA 5, I really didn't like any of the characters R* crafted. On GTA 5, I think I could have gotten past my dislike of the characters and their actions, but the story itself in single player was just so nonsensical at times (why give back the Merryweather Heist money after they assassinated a powerful business mogul earlier in the story?) and rather offensive at others (no option to skip the torture mission for the FIB, plus that tortured NPC felt shoe-horned in and wasn't of any major consequence to the story at all ... they weren't interrogating a mastermind ... and R*'s implied point/joke about wanton maligned intelligence decisions and their collateral damage was overall rather poorly executed, imo). As a result, I stopped playing that game near the halfway point of the story. As for solutions, I'm sure modders may actually just end up removing the voice actors and making the protagonist audibly silent (I figure it'd be like playing the main character in KOTOR where you saw their face with the choices for dialog, but they didn't have voice acting to go with it). And another possibility is, once Bethesda stops releasing new content for the game ... probably in a couple years, some modders may actually get together and provide more voice acting for the game, to give it a more varied style similar to Saints Row series where several voice actors instead of just 2 could satisfy most everyone.

The one thing that baffles me about the RE4 segment of this series is Yahtzee's aversion to the Red9. I know he comes to like it later on (Epsiode 9 I think?) but given that his whole schtick is ammo conservation it's odd that he doesn't use the Red9. Given that the Red9 has more damage per bullet and therefore is by very definition more ammo efficient then the Punisher. (Unless the enemies stack up VERY heavily and you get 5x Pierce on every trigger pull, which is unlikely to say the least, especially on Pro mode.) I mean yes, the Punisher makes a joke of shield enemies, but so does the Semi-Auto Rifle. Or the Riot Gun. Or the TMP. (if either of them bothered to get one.) All weapons that you would have conserved plenty of ammo for by using the Red9 for your average grunt enemies.

Gabriel is thinking of Ralph Baer who did die in 2014. Baer developed the Magnovox Odyssey, which was the first video game console and likely inspired Pong. Tennis For Two was developed by William Higinbotham who passes away in 1994. Understandable that these two early pioneers would get confused, I suppose, even if their works were made decades apart.

I've been playing a lot of Wasteland 2 recently, and I've discovered that the moral choice system for the game seems to work out fairly well. By default you're a Desert Ranger- a Jedi-like figure that's supposed to keep a semblance of peace in your corner of the wasteland, but you if you start going out of control people start to act accordingly. I shot up an entire village just to see what happened, and then I heard the surviving town elders screaming at my boss about how we'd gone rogue, betrayed everyone, and committed a massacre afterwards. Then my boss got mad. It was like being a child, feeling like your misdeeds had been exposed and you were in trouble. I haven't tested much further beyond this but I have read that the game has an entire evil campaign in reserve for if you f--- up so badly that the rangers turn on you. I'm impressed that the developers would make an entire game mode for evil paths, if that is true.

I always preferred the Blacktail to the Red9. You don't need a stock taking up space to have good handling and it's got a better rate of fire, so the lower firepower balances out. Fun fact with germanic words. If something has "ei" or "ie" in it, you pronounce the second letter as if it's by itself. If I had to take a guess as for why that boss battle went the way it did, it was because his spine is his weak point, and when you do enough damage to it he splits, but I suppose you can still hurt him by shooting him in the face, which is what you did for most of the fight, so when he did separate the damage to his upper body carried over or something.
