Thanks for the tips on dying scales. Glad to see the Mrs. Zach allows you to use the Cuisinart for the bath. Wonderful outcome on the scales. Take care.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. The outcome was great, I’m happy with the way they turned out!

Right on. I'll dye grey, tan, green, and CF laminated scales. Always guessing the final color with those. At least with white scales can stay true to it's color. Dying white scales is sacrilege for me.😅 Looks great though, thanks for sharing.
@zachstuffАй бұрын
Sacrilege is the best way to describe it!! 😂

Wow, you made the dyeing process look really easy! I've been curious about Rit Dye for a while now, so it's nice to see it in action! #teampink

Thank you. I followed your process with some $5 Walmart clones with Storm Trooper scales. They turned out great. I used a short section of chopstick for pivot alignment.
@zachstuffАй бұрын
Awesome, I’m glad that worked for you! I like the chopsticks idea!

I dyed the scales on my bug out I won from you. I went red with them. They turned out fantastic. I used dish soap in mine instead of vinegar and got a super strong color.

Awesome!! Glad they turned out great! Hadn’t heard of dish soap before. Thank you!

I've dyed jade G10 before. It takes quite a bit of time for that material to soak. The Grivory is much quicker. Blue is best. 😊
@zachstuffАй бұрын
Yes, that Grivory soaks up the color much faster! Cool you have done the jade as I have seen a few and can only imagine how long it takes!

Thank you for an excellent video on scale dying. Is there a specific reason you faced the finished side of the scale on the skewer? I vote Blue.
@zachstuffАй бұрын
You’re Welcome! I found putting the scales backwards against each other on the skewer helps keep from them sticking together and trapping dye on the inside of the scales.
@KnivesarelifeАй бұрын
Very Kool but it's blue for me
@stuartb9194Ай бұрын
Can you cool and reuse the dye mix?

I would imagine for a short time. The vinegar would be my only concern after a bit of time.

Benchmade has payment plans available to use so you don't have to pay the whole thing up front. I do believe they send the knife two days after your first payment goes through. Hopefully this helps you get one.

Cooking with Zach on the Food Channel! Colors really pop and the pink doesn't resemble pepto bismol. Good how to do on You Tube.
