Thanks for bringing me up to speed with these changes Kevin, well done. It's still hilarious to me though that this industry-leading software is celebrating in 2019 that they've implemented basic layout features that the competition have had standard for about 10 years.

These videos forced me to rethink my workspaces completely. I think these should be mandatory to watch before you install MC2019! Thank you!!!! However... being on a Mac (like you) I really hate the way Avid takes over all the screen real estate. If you try to adjust the MC area to show the desktop... you can squeeze/roll everything up to expose the desktop or other apps, BUT saving workspaces doesn't remember this. So, if you like having shortcut folders on your desktop to have quick access too, or maybe you want to drag and drop files into a bin from a Mac window, or maybe you like ready access to iTunes controls or keep a small KZbin video playing in the corner, or keep an MS word Document or an email you are referring to... you try to keep that off to the side and adjust the MC "space" accordingly. But if you jump to a different workspace and back again? - the MC takes over the WHOLE screen again. It's trying to be helpful...but it comes across a little like a bully. For Mac users, I think this is pretty annoying at best, but at worst it interferes with our workflow. I think this is one of those "designed for WIndows but ported to a Mac" mindsets where coders who don't use Macs don't understand (or don't care). My two cents.

IN SETTINS AVID MEDIA COMPOSER THERE ARE TWO BOTTON....MEDIA CACHE and MEDIA DISK....MI IMAC HAVE 32GB OF RAM WHAT RECOMENDERED ME....PUT SIZE GB....IN THE TWO BUTTONS?

Hey Jennifer - Does it work when using it via the Command Palette? I've had issues with certain keyboard shortcuts not working, like Auto Sequence as well. I think it's a keyboard bug issue.

Thanks so much Kevin! These are so helpful :) So far, settings hidden in “about media composer” (rather than in settings) has to win for least intuitive design decision, yes? :) if they want users to switch to this version because it’s “easier” and then start hiding things... recipe for disaster

Question. Since updating to 2019.12 i cannot find my smart tool cannot find how to roll and stretch a clip. Also everything is tiny and hard to read...any suggestions how to change this? Thanks

I already tried, it seems like a new GUI nothing major updrage, but buggy. After half an hour i gave up. I think it will be better later, but now we don't change the 2018.11.

v2019 is a real pain... instead of fixing important bugs that have been there for years, avid redesigned the UI in a complete idiotic way. Congratulations. I have 23 editing suites and not a single freelance editor is going for v2019. We´re already testing davinci resolve for our main editing app.

v2019 just has 3 months, don't need to upgrade your edit suites yet, give more time to the editors to be more familiar with the GUI. A change in the interface can't force you to go to a total different editing application, come on! That will be more painful, no doubt. Regards.

@@davillalba Yes, but I already pay for features I don´t want because I have to keep the subscription running... Just a big mess. And we all are beta testers for the almost monthly versions of the software. Please build stable versions and mark everything in between "public beta".

@@dondonaudio8191 keeping your suscription is to keep using the software you dont need to upgrade it if you dont like new version or if you feel like beta testing it. You also can downgrade to the previous version, 2018.12 is pretty solid, it has 8 versions of bugs fixing. You can use the software you want buddy, what I tried to say is that doesnt make sense for me to move and learn another NLE because you feel that you had to move and learn how to use your current NLE. H As humans we are customs' bugs, and we hate the changes. Be open minded, is not because you dont like or dont want you something makes a software useless. Dont waste your energies getting upset.

@@davillalba Being open minded has nothing to do with a working environment that puts out 100+ broadcasted minutes a day. If avid wants to play around, then please do it with a non-professional version and port the features to the full version afterwards. don´t throw public betas on the market every month. (yeah, please don´t tell me about MC First now...) 2018.12.7 "full installer" is no full installer e.g. although they call it "full". background bin saving still not working properly. titler plus a mess. no bin names in tabs. etc etc it so many things that just upset me because avid think they can do what they want, but hell yeah, we all needed a new interface. if it´s crap or not, at least it´s new. that´s what I am trying to say (not a native speaker obviously, sry for my english)
