Great production and content in your vlog Riku! I did 2G02 0544 from Paddington a couple of months back… Arrived on Greenford platform to an amazing sunrise and watching planes on final approach to Heathrow. Nice little coffee shop right outside the station too! Great morning hour spent.

Thank you for featuring this line - I have a happy memory of travelling on it in my extreme youth when it was still run by a steam engine plus an autocoach! I was shocked by how much the usage has fallen since cutting the direct services to Paddington. It shows how much latent demand there could be if, say, the frequency was doubled to every 15 minutes. Integration in outer London is not all it could be; for example the E1 bus - every 10 minutes from nearish to Drayton Green station - goes to Greenford, but terminates at the Broadway, a longish walk from Greenford station. Another attraction could be if more Chiltern trains called at West Ruislip, giving connections off the Central line to Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Oxford and Birmingham. Look forward to your next production.

Originally Chiltern Railways parliamentary service used to start at London Paddington and came off the Great Western Main Line at Old Oak Common to travel on the 'New North Main Line' to South Ruislip. Great Video Riku and the Greenford Line is a nice quiet line

I do like West Ealing as the station looks lot better than the old station. And it’s nice to see the Class 230 battery powered train working between West Ealing and Greenford. One thing is that the platform numbers at West Ealing could be renumbered. Platform 5 to be renumbered as platform 1. Platform 4 renumbered as platform 2 and platform 3 to remain as platform 3.
@A-Trainspotter-From-BerkshireАй бұрын
The platform numbers layout at West Ealing are based on when the Mains had platforms and they were platforms 1 & 2.

Not to sure, but I think it would be a good idea to connect the Greenford line with the Elizabeth line instead of running GWR trains... Yes I know it would be expensive to add AC overhead wires, and some more things... but it would be better to have a good service running up to Greenford! But as mentioned, the line doesn't get a lot of use: Let me know what you think?
@CourtMcCheeseАй бұрын
Just use those new battery powered old D stocks and that would do the job
@quintuscrinisАй бұрын
If you turn left at the top of the stairs and follow the road (about 15 minutes walk - including going across at the traffic lights) there is a fantastic open space known locally as the Bunny Park with a small zoo including flamingos, meerkats, slow loris and leemas.
@quintuscrinisАй бұрын
Also the E11 you noted at Castle Bar Park goes between central Greenford and Ealing Broadway so is much more useful than the train now (Greenford station not being anywherr near the centre of Greenford)

When I was a kid in the 60s, we would visit my Grandparents in Greenford. There is a park next to South Greenford station (it was called South Greenford Halt then) where we used to play and on Sundays when there were no trains, we would play on the station. We used to play on the footbridge over the A40 as well. Different times.

I have heard that TFL is considering purchasing this small line, as well as buying out the new class 230 battery multiple units that GWR has invested in, I’m pretty sure that if they do that it’ll be a new overground line or smthn like the one in Emerson & Romford
@A-Trainspotter-From-BerkshireАй бұрын
Network Rail is unlikely to sell the line as it is also used by freight trains.

A crowd of us did this line last March on the way to the FA Vase Q/F at North Greenford. I looked out the window on the right, facing front, and saw the Wembley Arch nestling in a host of trees. Wish I'd took a pic/vid now but just knew we were destined to win the thing... #UTFB😃

Can’t see London Overground taking over the Greenford Branch Line but it’s nice to see the battery powered Class 230 running between West Ealing-Greenford. Plus there should be a charging point at Greenford station so that the Class 230 can charge its battery whilst at Greenford. Just like at West Ealing.
@rikufryderykАй бұрын
But the battery is charged enough at West Ealing for the whole journey, so there’s no point, but I see what you mean- if that platform was closed for engineering work, it would be an issue
