Let’s fertilise the veggie patch

We use a simple fertilising regime with simple ingredients. We mix 3 double handfuls of pelletised chicken manure which contains 3.6 - 1.1 - 1.7 (NPK) in a 9 litre (2.3 US gal) bucket. Fill the water to the top and cover for minimum 2 weeks. This mixture will be strong, fermented and stinky! Then fill a 5 litre (1.3 US gal) watering can with water and 250ml (8.4oz) of fertiliser and water plants with this mixture every 2-3 weeks. Why do we do it this way? Liquid plant fertilisers are quickly plant available, meaning you start getting the effects straight away, this is especially important for vulnerable seedling that need to grow quickly to survive. We also have dogs (and a toddler) that would happily eat all of the pelletised manure before the veggies had a chance to use them.
