Hi there, I am desperately searching for an answer, but can't find it anywhere, so I try my luck here. Maybe you know it. It looks like a fuse in my GBM blew. I did not identity the blown one yet, but I am already searching for exchange fuses. The F1 should be 750mA according to it's marking (G). But the F2 has the marking "32" and I have no idea how to find out how many A or mA this fuse might have. Do you have any idea?
@sjm43065 жыл бұрын
It's pretty much impossible to decode tiny smd markings unless you already know roughly what series you are looking for. Your best bet is likely something around 200mA-500mA if it is just for something like the backlight or ~1A if it is in the switching regulator or charging circuity as I cant imagine anything inside the micro sucking more than that anyway.

I had that problem before on my Anniversary Famicom Edition Game Boy micro. When opening my Game Boy micro; I accidentally tore a ribbon cable while taking the guts out of the shell. The guts of my Game Boy micro were in much worse shape than I had previously known, so things we're sticking that shouldn't have been and it was all too easy to make it worse. Thankfully, it didn't matter in the slightest; since the screen I was going to replace the one in my Game Boy micro with was going to come from another Game Boy micro I had that was a more standard model. Since the guts of my Anniversary Famicom Edition Game Boy micro were in such shabby condition; I just threw them out and put the guts from the other Game Boy micro I had into the Anniversary Famicom Edition shell. The guts from the other Game Boy micro were in much better condition.

a nice sharp screwdriver and firm downward force while slowly turning for mildly stripped screws, for very stripped screws you basically have to use a special screw extractor bit or failing that drill out the head and use pliers to pull out the remaining thread.

One of mine has a little "light bleed" at the corners (looks like a tiny bit of whitish light at certain angles near the edges). This is normal for low/mid quality lcds but if it is very distracting then something is off and you'll likely need a new lcd.

I found another lot. Sorry if this ends up annoying you. I figured since I don't do much with my life, I might as well point out some broken game system being sold on eBay for you to possibly get. Tell me if you don't want my help, I won't take it offensively. Here's a lot of 3 broken systems...
The ds has a broken hinge, the gameboy color doesn't have it's volume working correctly, and the gba sp seems to not want to turn on properly and when it does, it takes a long time. Price is at $15.

@crypticcolleague16937 жыл бұрын
If you were to get the lot, I'd hurry. There's 1 hour left on that auction. But from what I've read, I think you could make a profit. The DS has a broken hinge. You can buy one off eBay for probably about $4. The GBC has a volume problem, probably a malfunctioning speaker, and the SP either has something blocking the connection to the power switch or a bad battery. The seller says that all these items work fine except for those flaws stated. I'm sure you could make a profit from that.

If the pikachu sp is a legit original (not a Chinese reshell) then I'd say depending on price that would be a good investment. However if you care more about playing than collecting the cib red sp with the game would be nice to have for both display and play. If you really can't decide ask yourself: in five years what would I regret not getting more? I had a chance to get a $30 mint nes sp years ago and I passed on it and have regretted it to this day. Luckily I did end up getting one recently but it cost me more and is in worse condition. So lesson learned.

Could i send you a gameboy to fix and could you send it back?
@sjm43066 жыл бұрын
Pherrell Mendez I do perform repairs but you would need to describe what problems you are having so I can give you a cost estimate for the repair.

Believe me I would love to just fix gameboys all day for free but just like everyone else I've got bills to pay and I only get a few hours a week to myself outside of work. Every once and awhile I do some pro bono repairs if the problem sounds interesting but I still require the owner to pay for parts and shipping. I cant afford to run a charity unfortunately.

I have dropped my micro so many times it’s broken :/
@sjm43065 жыл бұрын
Oh that sucks, especially since it's so tiny that it's easy to drop.

MegaSegaAJ ! Must be nice. I recently had to import a Pandora battery to revive a psp and you wouldn't believe how difficult it was to find a company willing to ship to me here.

Dobla el cable, colocaste la batería al revés

Works either way, if it were really directional Nintendo would've keyed it so it couldn't be inserted the wrong way.

Damn, clean the damn thing before putting it back toqether!

Cleaned it afterwards off camera as this was just a repair video.

oh good to hear. Watching people put things back together with all the dirt and grime is like yuk! might as well just flush it down the toilet! >_

Pretty much everything used that I buy for my collection gets stripped down, non-electronic components get washed in an ultrasonic bath with warm soapy water, and electronic parts get cleaned with isopropyl alcohol before they go back together.

I love doing that with old PC hardware, restoring the pcbs to brand new if possible :P

So i have a micro that i got a little wet, any chance of saving it?
@sjm43066 жыл бұрын
1103bingo It really depends if it were thoroughly dried off afterwards and not powered until it was completely dried.
@1103bingo6 жыл бұрын
It was purchased as an untested ebay buy, been cleaned and put back together, once the charger is plugged in the blue lights on start and select come on for a second then go off.

1103bingo Check any onboard fuses (components labeled F1, F2, etc) using a multimeter in continuity (beep) or resistance mode. Sounds like a fuse might be blown. Or it might be the battery is shot (many of the original micro batteries are on their way out by now).
@1103bingo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input, ive bought another battery but yet to see any life in the little treasure, ill perform a continuity test of any fuses i can find. Failing that it will do for spares i suppose.
@sjm43066 жыл бұрын
1103bingo Hopefully it is just the battery and you can resurrect it.

I've been replaying the game... You know... Just for fun. What else do you play a game for other than fun?
@sjm43067 жыл бұрын
winnetouch Sometimes I speed run or 100% which is more for my OCD or destressing than it is for fun. Depends on what mood I'm in.

But technically it's still for your enjoyment... AKA fun? :P

I got my micro for 200
@sjm43066 жыл бұрын
200 dollars? For that price I hope it was mint and boxed. It does seem that prices are only increasing on micros. I remember just a year or two ago decent condition units were only around $50.

You don't need to pop up a fleeting and annoyingly distracting caption (that nobody can read) each time your smoke alarm chirps because of a low battery. Get it off the ceiling and pull the battery.
@sjm43067 жыл бұрын
A Floyd Interestingly it wasn't the battery, it was the corroded contacts that increased the impedance making the alarm think a good battery was dead. Found that out after plugging in a new battery gave the same beeping.
