This is a long shot, but I want to know more about the "grey label" SM7B you have, which someone I know has. May I ask where you acquired it? Mine has a black and white label, but I bought it way back in 2016.

I have an issue where you can hear a hissing noise as the gate opens to let your voice in. Any work around for that?

This hissing is more than likely your interfaces preamp. You can always try to lower the gain a little.
