As a chef, something to note about wine in restaurants is that glasses of wine are priced at the wholesale price of the bottle, Because there’s no guarantee of making any more money off of an open bottle. once it’s had a glass taken out of it you have 24-48 hours To sell the rest of that bottle before it oxidizes beyond repair and it can only be used for cooking or dumped down a drain. That’s why you get charged the price of the whole bottle for a glass.

@@bradenr867 as I said, that’s the wholesale price of the bottle. at my restaurant in particular for the more popular wines we buy up to eight cases at a time. If you were buying it in those quantities, you could get it for the same price that we do. Also, if you’ve ever had a drink in a bar, they will charge you $20 for a drink that has three dollars worth of alcohol and some lime juice in it. If you have a problem with the prices, then don’t buy it. I never buy wine or drinks when I eat out, but a lot of thought has gone into the purchasing and pairing of wines and drinks with the food being served. My last chef was a certified sommelier And he spent at least four hours a week just on sourcing and pairing wines with the specials he was going to do. That’s four hours of an executive chef salary for just one of the various varieties of wine we have. Also, the markup often happens because wine goes bad in up to five years and for the less popular wines we may end up having to throw them away because nobody will buy them in that time. So we have to make up the money from those bottles of wine With our more popular ones. that’s why the markups are higher on cheaper bottles of wine because they have to make up the money for the more expensive ones that are mostly for looks and dick measuring contests.

yeah people dont realize just how powerful the cork of a champagne bottle is, it will dent your ceiling, it could very well, crush your eye if its aimed at your face, it will give you some very distinct bruises and hurt a ton, it will feel like you just got punched in the face, but in a smaller area

carla rossi has wine jugs, yes I said "Jugs" not "bottles", for like $15 at Walmart. Not sure if they have that in Las Vegas or if priced differently there, but these jugs are cheaper than some bottles (not even considering cost per amount of liquid), but it tastes better than just about every bottle of wine I've bought under $20. Just saying wine is way over priced.
