My paintings look muddy. I like your suggestion of starting colorful and bright letting the colors and white sparkle through.
@raeandrews192511 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I suggest you try not to overmix your colors.. allow the Watercolor to merge on the paper and leave lots of white paper showing …it really does help to keep your painting, clean looking… so for instance, if you put a yellow down on the page and while that yellow is still wet, add some blue to it, and watch the two colors merge together. It makes for a clean mixing of color rather than you mechanically mixing the yellow and blue on a palette before you put paint to the paper.. I hope that helps a little in your journey with Watercolor

I am new at this, so exploring and experimenting with varying styles. I tend to work rather slow and intentional...until I found you. I sit for hours at a time mesmerised by your quick easy flow, your deliberate, yet loose application of bold colours, light to darks, large spaces first, with utmost care given to respecting the white spaces. My motto has long been "Life is a Dance" and I thank you for showing me how I can make this true for my art. Please tell me what "Subscribe" involves. Feeling Gratitude for your sharing your gifts! Thanks for these great videos, Rae! Do you always use paint straight from the tube or do you re-wet dried paint in a palette and use that, or both? What about when you are doing plein air painting? Just wondering what works best for your painting style.
@raeandrews19255 жыл бұрын
I usually just rewet my paints on my palette Maura. I may need to add fresh paint too..especially the colors I use the most. When painting outside, I use colors I put in my plein air palette before I leave the house, but always carry spare tubes with me. What I never use are the pan colors..I can never get the vibrancy I like with them. Just a personal preference. Thank you for your comment. 😊

Does it matter if Opera Rose is a fugitive color? (Oops! I mean Opera Pink. Ignore me, this comment only applies to opera pink!) If I remember correctly, it has a florescent dye that fades over time. My paint Swatch of it has already faded (after 3 months) and it's not even exposed to light (Thank you for sharing your techniques. I love your vibrant colors and your expressive style!)
@raeandrews1925 Жыл бұрын
Opera Rose painted on the surface on it’s own could be a problem color. I painted this painting 4 years ago and I wasn’t that familiar with Opera Rose. It was a new color for me, but if you notice during the process of this video, the color was never painted completely on its own, it was always merged with another color. I feel that got me around some of the problems of that particular color and its properties. If I did this painting again, I probably would not use opera rose. I hope that’s answered your question.
