I'm going boating on Kentucky Lake! This is just one of the reasons why I love living in Western Kentucky. We have Kentucky Dam Marina where you can jet ski on Kentucky Lake and inner tube on Kentucky Lake. Or just go boating on Kentucky Lake. There are so many things to do on Kentucky Lake! I'm with you---fried chicken. A must-have at picnics, on the beach and on water in the summertime. In general, I favor unfussy finger foods ok to eat at room temp or chilled that aren't annoyingly messy or get soggy over time.

We found you via the Pollux adoption video and so happy we did. You’re a wonderful advocate for shelter adoption. We currently have 2 former shelter dogs and have had many others over the years. They are the best! This look at Kentucky Lake was awesome. Also, your videos of Puerto Vallarta trips are especially good. My husband and I have traveled to the Yucatán several times and we watch lots of Mexico travel vlogs. Yours are absolutely some of the best we’ve seen. You make us want to check out that area. Never been to Kentucky. When we would go to my grandparents house on the lake in NH it was everything blueberries. Of course we had to pick them! Looks like a lovely day for family fun! 👍🏻❤️

Glad you enjoyed it! If you ever get the chance, rent a cabin at the lake and rent a pontoon boat for the day. Go out on the lake, take your fried chicken from the local grocery story, and just soak up the sun. Then make the short drive to Downtown Paducah to visit my ice cream shop. Can't wait to see you!

Loved the tour of the lake. It is so beautiful there. We watched 4th of July fireworks out on the lake one year. Brought back great memories. Can't say enough positive things about the Paducah area and it's people. Thanks for sharing the prep that goes into a day on the lake as well.

Thank you for the day on Kentucky Lake. I have drove over it a few times to other destinations but never actually got to see around the area. We use to come down to Paducah for a get away weekend several times through the years when the Executive Inn was the place to be. Have eaten at Cohens for birthdays and anniversaries and walked around the river front area lots of times to go back to the hotel. Beautiful place, and always felt safe back then, even at night. I saw your ice cream shop video and know where that is located, too. I hope we can come back down at least 1 more time to enjoy the downtown area. Thank you for the great video!

Hi Janet! Sooooo much has changed since you were in Paducah last. The Executive Inn has been torn down....and CC Cohens is now a different restaurant called Shandies. Downtown Paducah is so wonderful and is filled with local business. We also now have a huge, super nice, boat dock that was built a few years ago so people traveling on the rivers can dock and stay. Come back soon!! You would love it ❤️

aww Polluxs wanted to love you too . Little doggie Maxxie got the satisfaction up there beside you. It was a moment thing. Yeah know,, just the right moment to show gratitude and love and I missed you moma... Right along with his brother up on the couch beside moma. He put the side of his face sort of caressing you and then he had to get onto the floor again he got all nervous and started digging up his beddy-bye again that's what that was,,, a very sensitive dog I think. Boating, cottaging and spending time on the lake is a big part of the culture where I grew up (and where I currently live) in Ontario Canada. So I totally get the appeal! I spent so much time in the water I was half fish, LMAO! Winter is for snowmobiling, skating and skiing, and summer is for boating, cottaging and four-wheeling 🤩. I’m surrounded by the Ottawa River and many awesome lakes, as well as groomed snowmobile and four-wheeling trails. And I grew up on the 1000 Islands, surrounded by the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario. And right across the River from Watertown, NY and Ogdensburg, NY (and only two hours from Syracuse, NY). The Canada US borders were only 30 min from our house which was great!

Hi! A little backstory......last year a small tornado hit the marina where my parents keep their boat. The large dock was damaged and broke lose from the land. It floated out into the lake with all of the boats attached!! Some boats were badly damaged, some sank, but my parents boat only received minor damage. The marina rebuilt the new dock and it just opened earlier this year. This was my first visit to the new section of the dock....and it is very nice!

So beautiful! Thanks for sharing your journeys. :) Dogs are always better at home out of the heat...plus, they are always happy to be at home. They don't have to go everywhere with you. :) My tomatoes are not near ready to pick yet. Although, my raspberries have all been ripening all at the same time...same as my Saskatoon berries. :) My basil & chives & dill are all ready to pick. It's always alot of work to go to the lake. I remember when I used to pack our 30'ft travel trailer...for me & my family. That meant packing for 2 children & grocery shopping for the trip. Sometimes for a week at a time...Loading & then unloading all of the groceries...Ughhh! No longer doing that as we sold the trailer a long time ago, because the girls didn't want to go with us after they got older. You even have a golf cart to get to the boat...Now, that's the life! :) There are some beautiful house boats docked there. ;) Your Dad has a beautiful boat! OMGosh! The houses on the lake are incredible. We used to love to ride our friend's Jet skis...brings back wonderful memories for me...especially watching the kids jumping into the lake. Yes, the best time is close to sunset when the lake is like glass & so peaceful & tranquil. The food & the eating is always the main part of being at the lake. For sure...:) The kids will be all tuckered out being out in the sun, swimming...and all of that fresh air. I remember the kids having no problem sleeping at the end of the night....exhausted! Holy Cr..p!!!! Now that’s a boat!!!!! We had a 25 foot tritoon boat that we used to take the family on. Story about what kind of food to take on the boat. If we were going fishing with my SIL and BIL, I always baked sausage biscuits for that morning and made homemade pimento cheese for later. One time I didn’t make the pimento cheese and got fussed at by my BIL.

Hi Renee'! I think a trip to Kentucky would really be worth doing. I've heard Lexington is gorgeous. We would probably fly then rent a small RV. When is optimal weather? Where would you suggest we go? We're not pressed for time. Maybe stay a week at the lake? I'm like you, Renee', We used to drive from Seattle and meet up at Sun Lakes in eastern Washington to water ski with 2 other families. They were hop farmers from Yakima . I would try to water ski from the dock so I wouldn't get wet. We had a great time. 29 kids.........it was mayhem! We'd take the station wagon filled with food pulling the boat, and my brothers drove the other car. My dad was in the restaurant business and would buy in bulk.l We all ate at picnic tables end to end. We'd have TGiving in July and have a huge Turkey dinner. We were required to clean and keep track of our individual k,f & spoon. The mothers had mealtime down to a science!

Oh yeah you are lucky to have access to fresh from the garden. Store bought doesn't come near tasting like garden fresh .. We would eat a tomato like an apple. Fresh green beans ... strawberries - nothing better

The lake was beautiful! Looks like it was a fun day. The garden goodies made me think of my Dad. He always planted Silver Queen, not because it was his favorite, but it was mine and my sister’s. He always planted Big Boy tomatoes. Miss my Dad’s garden goodies.

But also your state is in the middle of a huge spike of coronavirus cases. I know it feels safe to be with family any everything, but if just one of those family members is carrying the virus then it's likely you're all going to get it. Here in my home province we are doing fairly well with our infection rates, and even then a family gathering of 30ish resulted in almost every single one of those people being infected. You're great. You are a smart lady. But it's not summer. It's corona summer. You need to get it through your head. For your safety. For your husband's safety. For your kids safety. For your mum in laws safety... Just... Think about it.

Of course I wore sunscreen.....I am a sunscreen fanatic! When I say I was sunburned.....that was a figure of speech for being out in the sun all day. I was not burned at all. Every inch of my skin was covered in sunscreen 😜

@@gailcreamer9610 pretty crazy, I agree. I live in Melbourne Australia - our infection rate is half what Louisville's is, and we're locked down, and everyone is wearing masks. I'm praying for the U.S.

@@mtspp5801 I'm in NY and we're doing pretty good compared to other states thanks to the proactive steps the state and local government took. No one likes it but it's the only way to get through this and back to a new normal. I appreciate your response. ❤️

Hi Renee, My mom is from Monticello, KY & we spent many summers as kids at Great Grandma's farm house, feather beds,etc. Did much lake fishing, was beautiful country and very friendly people. Just ran across your site, glad I did, we have always been pitty people, did years of volunteering at the shelters, doing adoption events, taking all kinds of dogs but most were pitties, to any and every event all over that would allow the dogs. We have our one rescue left, she is 9 yrs. Our dogs are children, very loved. My belief is dogs are God's angels, so unconditional loving, very intelligent, help many, many people, even abused dogs still loved humans, just cannot say that for humans. Thankyou for taking that leap & rescuing Pullox, having the patience with him. Very intelligent, can see him thinking sometimes. All your animals past and present are so sweet & loving. Wish you and your human & animal family the best, hope all your business adventures are very successful.

Hi Lesa!!!! When I was a little girl, I would spend a week at my great-great-aunt’s house and she had a feather bed! My cousins and I argued every night about who got to sleep with my Aunt I in her feather bed. We all loved it!! I have such wonderful memories of her and her home 💞

@@WelcomeToMyCurls I agree, we have some great memories & learned alot about life in our summers, Grandma had sulfur water piped into her home, she grew up on it,we had to bring up lots of buckets of awesome well water for drinking, bathing, all that!! The outside toilet (last building past smokehouse!) Was a big thing for us to accept, but we learned! Walking into town to those wonderful people & small stores, never forget. Will definitely try to someday get out there and to Paducah, sounds like a wonderful small town! 🤗 Give my love to the furrbabies!!

What fun! So enjoyed seeing your time on the lake! I love the water, too. My retired husband and I try to go and walk our favorite SoCal beach once a week. It’s about an hour away from home, so not too far. So rejuvenating! 🌞🌞🌴🌴😎😎
