Coney Island, New York, United States of America.
Introductory intertitle reads: "Away with the deep depressions - let's have a good slapdash smile with the rest of the world at Uncle Sam's playground."
L/S of fairground rides at Coney Island - various rides. Closer view of some of the rides including a fabulous circular "witches hat" type ride that looks fun and a spinning disk which throws girls all over the place due to centrifugal force! Lots of screaming- great fun. Two girls hold hands in an attempt to stay on. L/S of another similar ride.
High angle of a ride called "Human Pool Table" - very strange ride! There is a sign up which reads: "For Men Only". Seems to me like there is a girl in trousers on there!
L/S of a cakewalk type side-show which has air jets that make the girls' skirts ride up. Couple of good shots of girls revealing their suspenders. A dwarf in a clown's outfit helps lure the women into the knicker flashing trap! He jumps up and down with excitement. Various shots of a large audience who are watching this display.
The flight of a "human cannonball" is announced through a megaphone. The stuntman is named but difficult to hear it on this Steenbeck - Matt Genie (sp?). Man climbs into cannon, is launched and flies through the air. He lands on a big net. It is pretty spectacular! He makes a salute to the sound of applause.
Note: classic Coney Island stuff - the section of knicker flashing is especially good.
