The KZbin algorithm really sucks! I've been at it for 3 years, & I've had people tell me the sake thing. (I'm only at 970) I know other channels as well, that only have x amount of subscribers, & I feel like it should be 10' that #! There are so many things that affect whether or not KZbin shows your video to more/new people. If you aren't getting enough comments, or if people click off early, & don't watch the whole video, etc.

I love that you were very explicit about the fact that crop failures can change from year to year and that it's often out of your control. Failing is part of the process and I (honestly) don't trust flower farmers who say that they've never accidentally killed something or had a crop failure. >_< I was really happy with the Amandine varieties of nuncs last year. Looking forward to seeing yours bloom!

Great tips with growing Ranunculus. I’ve never grown them. I love your quiche recipe. I’ve never made pie crust with beef tallow. But I most certainly will try it. Hope your foot heals quickly. ❤

You can use crisco or butter. I just like tallow better.

Great tulip bed! Would chicken wire right on the ground have worked you figure? Looked at trying Ranunculus, but have not ordered yet. Hard to believe you are planting sweet peas already....we have been warm, but we are still in throws of winter. Good job.

I haven't tried it with chicken wire directly on the ground but i think the birds might still peck at the tulips.

I’ve tried ranunculus twice....failed both times...first I just planted them in the garden as I did not know anything about them...2nd time I had the pre sprouting medium too wet! Maybe third time is the charm! That quiche looked delicious!

so one thing a forgot to mention on the video is, after you plant them don't water tell they start to sprout because they can rot on you. I will keep my fingers cross for you.

Glad to hear you don't use rootshield and have success! I can't afford it and I would like to avoid buying it in the future. I've only heard of it for Lisianthus. My local nursery uses Banrot but that for commercial level growing. The other fungicides I've looked into are for the plant above ground. Not having luck with one meant for the roots yet!. Good to know ranunculus story. I have one that sprouted out of close to 100! What the heck! 😅

I've never had a problem , knock on wood. It is so expensive and I agree I could never afford it but my ranunculus have always done fine.

This is my 3rd year growing Ranunculs.They are an absolute favorite of mine.I am trying the Romance series this year. A little scary, as they were pretty darn spendy! Keeping my fingers crossed they do well:)

I feel like so many people say that anemones are easier to pre sprout than ranunculus but I struggle so much with anemones! I’ll try again next year with drier soil

I’m going to try Ranuculus again this year. Last year epic fail. I planted them outside too soon and even covering them they froze. I’m going to pot them in portable containers so if need be I can move them in. It’s only a few corms but I just want to see if I can successfully grow them at least once. ❄️💚🙃

the important thing is start with moist soil and you don't really want to water them tell they start to rot.

They don't like it two cold unless you can plant under cover, protected, frost cloth. Start you ranunculus two weeks before setting out in spring and danger of frost has past.

I started a couple hundred ranunculus this season the same way you started it. It actually sprouted on my back porch with 70 degree days and cooler nights. I fall planted some (south GA, 8b) and just set out a second succession. If successful, it will be for my spring subscriptions. Ive had to keep it hooped b/c of rabbits. I love the tulip bed. Did you put down cardboard before the compost? I also look forward to trying your delicious quiche.

no on the cardboard, that's not a bad idea, i didn't because I most likely will till before I replant .

New subscriber, the Ranunculus caught my attention! I live in north Alabama, zone 7A. I know they don’t like the heat but I’m starting my corms now, end of Feb., can I grow them for couple weeks outside in flats before I plant them in containers? Will frost hurt them? Thanks.

Hello and welcome! We are dipping down into the 20s tonight here in Oregon zone 8b and I have them covered in a hoop house. The ones planted in fall do better with then ones newly planted in spring with the cold. I'd say toss something on them if it freezes like a cardboard box, hay, or plastic? I think they will do just fine.good luck!

I can't even plant sunflower seeds outside, the birds will get them all, so I start then all indoors Small price to pay, I think, for the pest and weed seed management they offer throughout the growing season. Currently, my favourite ranunculus is Amandine White.

We grow a ton of white, and they do so well. I struggle with sunflowers as well.

My ranunculus in my hoop house have aphids! I've put ladybugs in there, but they are still there. Any recommendations for getting rid of them?

one thing I've learned over the years is to not put to much fertilizer down before planting if you do they will attract more pests. Try neem oil or you can cut the flowers and dunk heads into a soap water mix and they will wash off and die. Its hard if the issue gets out of control not to use a more aggressive method.
