Just a Ideal. To help you do less weeding on the hoop hut. Use all the cardboard boxes you got in for plants and cut it down and lay it flat and hold it down with your old concrete bench tops at the nursery.

Cardboard contains PFAS from what I've recently read. It's a shame because I've stockpiled a bunch for garden use, but I can't justify it now.

She grows flowers in the hoophouse so any contents in the cardboard wont matter here.

My ranunculus corms grew marvelously under grow lights. Now I have to wait to plant them outside when our Z8a weather warms. My first time with ranunculus so very exciting.

I wonder if those seeds in the compost are the remnants of what the mice stole from your seed stash! Maybe if you grow them on you can recover some of your stock!🙃

Hi Nicole so excited to see your beautiful ranunculus! Have you thought about possibly using the cardboard from the flooring in the greenhouse aisle and covering it with wood chips from the downed tree branches? Not like you don’t have any other things to do but maybe you could see if Brad would be interested! 😉🤗
@patty-m2d6 ай бұрын
How about a good cardboard layer and woodchips on the edges of the tunnel? Works for me and free for you with all of the cardboard you have and arborists will drop it for free.

Loved seeing the clips from the hoophouse last year! A hoophouse full of ranunculus is the most beautiful sight ever! Tonya from "Tonya, with the flowers" always had beautiful clips like that in her videos, & they are what made me fall in love with Ranunculus. It looks like a bed full of dollops of sherbet oce cream! It made me go and look back at clips from mine last year. Last year was my 3rd year growing them, & I had finally figured out the PERFECT time to plant them (not too early, not too late) & had the BEST year! Unfortunately, I followed suit this year, the the weather didnt?!? Already having days in the MID 70's!?! 🥴 (Indiana)

I think I need to buy a mean ole junk yard dog to keep the squirrels away this year! Ha! You know they dug up and ate some very expensive bulbs and tubers last year! I found the evidence all around my yard. I snidely said "I hope you enjoyed your 12 dollar snack!" I had to cover my planted pots with hardware cloth! Sheesh! 230 frustrations of a Gardener! Imonna write a book! It's squirrel huntin season! Don't spray my fur coat guys! I paid for it!

Great timing! I had just picked up my phone to ask this question on a random video, and was pleasantly surprised you were planting ranunculus. This will be my first time putting ranunculus out in March. Have you ever had any trouble with freezing? I'm Zone 5a Maine and the lowest low in ten days is 25. I do have protective hoop tunnels. Do you think that will be enough? Also, when do you typically get your first blooms planting early? I have a June wedding to do.
@FlowerHillFarm6 ай бұрын
They are fine uncovered down to the early 20F. Cover them if it is going to be close. Blooms are 90 days from planting (pre-sprouting counts)
@stephaniewarren92856 ай бұрын
@@FlowerHillFarm Yes, I always pre-sprout, but I've never put them out this early...well...because...Maine weather ugh! Thank you! I will have my tunnels at the ready! You rock! 🙌
