Hey Russ, I used to ride my bike year round (I live in Boston). I have been riding my ebike since I bought it in February. I had a pair of gloves that were like half-mittens -- I used to call them my "lobster claws) (a thumb and two "claws" pairing the index and middle fingers in one "claw" and the ring finger and pinky in the other "claw." Kind of gave me most of the warmth benefit of mittens while allowing enough dexterity to shift gears and whatnot. The ones I had were Pearl Izumi and were specifically sold in bike shops (where I bought them). I also had a neoprene face mask for the cold. I wouldn't ride in extreme weather, nor did I ride in the snow, but I was comfy in most of the winter.

Get yourself a dropper seat post Russ. You simply push a lever and the seat will drop completely down where you can remain seated and flat footed at stops. When you start up again you push the lever and the seat will come back up and you just simply decide how far up you want it.

So, I'm just hanging around the house and watching you ride yours along with watching videos on how to assemble and set up the bike properly when it arrives. I'm looking forward to riding along with you in spirit, lol. Ride Safe!

I`m 73 and ride my Ebike about ten miles every morning. At 5`7" and 175 pounds, this bike looks to be perfect for my size and ability. I usually ride about 10-12 miles per hour and this bike should get about 75 miles per charge, running it down to about 35-40%. One of the things I really like is the way the step thru was designed, with plenty of space to step through. They did an excellent job on the overall styling, and this bike should be a terrific seller for MagiCycle. My bike is a white Rip Current S step-thru with the 1000W motor.

Looks like a beautiful day. Pretty fall colors. Pretty chilly here right now. Sunshine helps. Today and next two days gets up to 70° so I hope to get out. The Ocelot is a cool looking bike. My hubby would love the cruise control. Good you tell people about pedaling backwards.

Great range 35 miles on real riding conditions. I'm going to adjust down my PAS 1-7% to get better range. Just going fast for now😂I hated running too, but I could play basketball for hours every day. Now I ride the ebike for a couple of hours just as much fun! This Ocelot Pro would be perfect for Mrs.K👍

I ride all winter, as long as there's no snow/ice on the roads. I don't mind the cold, but I'm too old to crash, especially on pavement! My current cold weather ride record is -10°(actual temp) for a 10-mile ride.

I ride in pretty cold weather (I’d go out in 10s, for sure), but there also some fairly nice days here in the winter. Snow rarely stays around too long here. I generally can get out at least a couple days a week, on average. I’m with you in that I won’t ride in snow or ice, not worth the risk. In terms of warmth, a balaclava helps a lot more than just a cap. And warm clothes with a windbreaker layer over top. I used to run year round in Ohio, it’s doable to get warm enough gear.

I got my bike Friday. 40 miles so for. I also noticed that the battery meter and % drops fast right away. I haven’t ridden far enough to know how accurate these are. I suspect they are not too accurate, but I don’t know for sure yet. Love the bike so far. I added a short stem riser, and The arm position Is much better. I’m 5’ 9”.

Its possible, Need to be very warm w/ lots of layers, Good gloves and boots, wind proof, goggles, etc. its kind of sketchy though if below freezing because there can be black ice and other slippery frozen surfaces you can’t really see. Its possible but its not comfortable Lol you are much less inclined to go for long rides its usually quick ones for me in the winter. above freezing and sunny is my threshold

Watched MC Cruiser video unboxing today from May 2022. 16mph on hill with PAS 5 set to 80% per your screenshot. Really think the overall current weight of rider and bike is the main factor. Most people will encounter hills from a rolling perspective and not a dead stop. I like the Ocelot, but it is the Prince of hills. The Cruiser Pro at 20mph approach would seem the King to me.

That's not bad at all...35 mi. with 10% left and you said you weren't doing much pedaling. I suspect that if you did pedal you'd probably be at 40 mi. Nice.
@RussIsRight
@RussIsRight Жыл бұрын
You don't get another 10% even though it says it on the meter. 35 miles and then it died even though the meter says 10% left. This is rather common on the bikes it seems. Other models show maybe 7 or 8 % left, but really, the bikes don't go any further. Still, 35 miles throttling is really rather good. :)

I have not yet made the video specifically for the Ocelot Pro, but it is the same procedure that I did for the Cruiser. Just use the 1-9 PAS option instead of the 1-7 that is shown on this video and then use the values that I put on the photo in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKPLh2Cig7d2rsU

Hi Russ, I'm undecided on which bike to get. I do some trail ridding, but mostly pavement riding. I'm 5Ft 8 and weigh 190 pounds. which bike would you choose . Cruiser pro or Ocelot pro? Great review!
@RussIsRight

Based on being 5'8", I would choose the Ocelot Pro. But it's really about your inseam. If you have an inseam of less than 31 inches, you would have an issue with the Cruiser Pro. The constant acceleration and stopping will put a serious dent in your range. I suspect in a real world, controlled situation you’d get significantly higher range. Also on my Ocelot it gets down to 50% then I get home and park it and it’s up to 90% in the morning.

The battery meter will read differently when the battery is under load (when riding) compared to at rest for a while. This happens on most batteries on Ebikes.

I had a rear view camera on my Super 73. I used a handlebar extension so I could mount my phone since the camera took up a lot of space. Didn’t like the camera. Cars look way too small and seem like they are farther away then they really are. I was riding and wanted to turn left. I looked at my camera and saw a car seemingly far away from me. As I was about to merge left, I looked over my shoulder to double check and the car was only feet away from me. Scared me. I got rid of it and now just use mirrors. They are more accurate to me.

@@RussIsRight thanks, is the twist akward to use? do you accently twist it? I have a thumb throttle, which I like using wondering whats a twist throttle is like.
@RussIsRight
@RussIsRight Жыл бұрын
I find it hard to hold the twist throttle steady. When you hit a bump in the road, you tend to accidentally twist it a bit more. That jerks the bike. I don’t seem to do this with a thumb throttle. Also long holding times is harder for me to do on a twist throttle. As for getting another throttle off aliexpress or Amazon, as long as they have the same connectors, it should be ok. But you likely won’t know until you are able to look at the connections on the bike and then on the perspective throttle replacement. Citizen Cycle swapped out a throttle on a recent video of his and he was successful doing it.
@TKGZONE
@TKGZONE Жыл бұрын
@@RussIsRight thanks ya i think thumb throttle is the best. I haven't tried a twist but i would think it would be weird where you're not holding the brakes when your twisting. With thumb you can hold the brakes and the position doesn't get affected.

Yes, it would use as much battery as your throttle. Essentially, you are throttling when you use cruise control, it is just that it holds the speed consistently. And, sorry... my codes and affiliate link only work for ebikes sold in the USA. But thanks for thinking of me!
