Thank you Bob, you made it and explained it very clearly. For me, I am in Canada right now and I recently bought an electric scooter to get around in Metro Vancouver, that is fun and exciting for me as a person grew up in Hong Kong, tiny city and everywhere in Hong Kong looks like Downtown, so except riding a bike and walking, I don’t think people do any other kind of personal transportation in Hong Kong as far as I know. That’s why when I told my friend in Hong Kong that I just bought a Scooter, most of them don’t even know what a Scooter is, that’s surprising isn’t it? But yeah communing and get around and go to the Grocery store becomes more easier for me with my own electric scooter. For your video, I didn’t expect you would talk about this topic really, you surprised me a lot Bob. I really appreciate your explanation and introduction to this topic to me and I definitely learnt something new today, thank you.

Hello, Bob! AFAIK, roller skates are now more often called "quad skates" or simply "quads" to differentiate them, and rollerblades are more often called "inline skates". I practiced inline skates for years

Great video, Bob, thank you. I noticed you said several times the word motor. I'd like to know the difference between a motor and an engine. Thank you.
@DDDD_D-u9xy Жыл бұрын
I think motor is used to convert an electrical energy into mechanical one. But what about an engine, it uses a fuel
@LearnEnglishwithBobtheCanadian Жыл бұрын
For me a motor can be powered by electricity or gasoline. An engine however is always powered by gasoline or diesel fuel.

Thanks again, Bob for an interesting lesson. I would say, though, that there's a big difference between ice skating and rollerblading)) Having skated a lot as a hockey player on ice, I once tried rollerblade... Boy, I all but killed myself !! If you try to maneuver while rollerblading like you do on ice skates, you can get yourself killed !) No slides... no sudden stops and starts... Traction is the killer... I played hockey a lot till I got 56 and then did rollerblading just for fun when iI got older. But, take my word, it's way more safer to fall on the ice ))))

Hi Bob, thank you for the video! I noticed that you pronounce "t" in word "often", but rules say that "t" must be silent. Could you explain please?
@LearnEnglishwithBobtheCanadian Жыл бұрын
Both pronunciations are common and acceptable in Canada. It's part of our American and British mixture of the language. Here's a video about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enS7lKFpo9WpbZI
