NL, I have to thank you. You are one of the first people i watch whose channel is not centered around COD who did not completely bash it. I'm a big fan of yours and when you mentioned COD I thought "here comes the hate", but to my surprise you actually said some good things about it. I gained a lot more respect for you. You are one of the greatest You Tubers out there. :)

30 hours of gameplay out of this title would be very, very optimistic I think. I don't doubt that there are some people out there who will (or maybe even already have) hit that mark, but I don't think it will hold most people's interest for nearly that long.

The fact that you can see around corners without actually peeking out your hitbox. It changes the gameplay significantly.

I guess I can agree with you there, there really hasn't been anything that original coming out of late (with big titles anyways) so it is nice that this game tried to mix it up a bit by combining a lot of different elements.

Hey, thanks! It's unfortunate that there are only two camps when it comes to COD online: diehard fanboys and people who absolutely hate it. I don't love the game but I play it online from time to time and it's fun. It's not art and it's not amazing, but it's nice to have a polished and well put together game with a huge community that I can come back to now and then for quick and casual play.
@Northernlion11 жыл бұрын
This is a fair criticism and I'll admit that I played very lone wolf style, but (a) this was TDM rather than objective-based (where teamwork flourishes more, in most games at least, IMO) and (b) in my experience with the game no one communicates except to complain when they die, which inhibits teamwork. Compared to something like Natural Selection 2, the teamwork element does seem a little superficial here, but again, I understand the criticism that I missed the point of the team bonuses.

Cover is a lot more important in third person shooters than fps hence why the majority of third person shooters you have a "snap to cover" mechanism. You also have a much bigger blindside in third person meaning you rely on teammates more to cover you. In fps it is also a little easier to aim as you are in direct control of your characters viewpoint.

NL, do you have plans on doing BF4 next year? I know it's not really your thing, but you've mentioned you play shooters here and there, and it's gonna be a triple A title for sure, so it could get you a lot of hits like when you did the DMC thing. If you do, what platform will you play? If you do, you should go PC for the full experience, but you could go XBox for an easier time, and if you go XBox, I could help you out since I'm gonna toot my own horn and say I'm pretty decent at Battlefield.

Just putting the idea out there. Battlefield as a whole tends to be a high quality series. Each game builds upon the last in some way. He used CoD as an example for a top-notch FPS, and listed reasons that if had he played a BF title he would realize is not entirely true. I don't want this to be a war between two franchises. CoD is fun, there's a reason it makes so much money. I just feel that BF has consistently been better made, and he should CONSIDER giving BF4 a shot, because triple A title.

There have been 4 multiplayer shooters released on steam since the release of Black Ops 2, 2 of them have been free to play. I don't know where you're getting "too many" from, but not many devs actually try to make a multiplayer shooter at the moment. Compare multiplayer shooter releases to Puzzle Platformers or Third Person Action releases in the last year or so and you'll see how little a lot of devs want to touch this genre, since it's very hard to pull off well (as this game demonstrates).

I think it has potential. It is a new release and could be heavily patched soon to improve on some of its issues. I will say that it looks pretty solid in gameplay. The level progression could use some work and expansion. I don't think it's fair to criticize the game for having similar features to other shooters. In a way that makes it a solid experience while putting its own twist on things with wacky weapons and unique visual style.
@TheIndieOcean11 жыл бұрын
This a matter of taste/preference but I do want togo on record as saying I personally prefer NOT having an announcer/voiceover in a multiplayer game. I usually find them really grating.

Chainsaws and missiles. And I say unique visual style because Cel-shading isn't typically used all that often. Nor is it easy to implement into a game. The first real game to use 3D Cel-shading that I'm aware of is Jet Grind Radio. Look past the character models and there is a definite style that the game has. Bright vibrant colors like Mirror's Edge, funny ragdolling like TF2, environments reminiscent of Homefront. It's there, it has potential. It was just executed poorly.

As someone who plays Battlefield religiously, and has also played CoD before and after switching to BF, the gunplay in CoD is very floaty, clunky, and slow. Battlefield has very precise movement, aiming, shooting, and actions. CoD has invisible walls, sprinting is very wierd, and I find myself dying to luck more often than skill or me messing up.
@TheDookieSlapper11 жыл бұрын
The only thing I disagreed with was when NL said in CoD you usually have to work together if you want to win. I do believe that it gets bashed unnecessarily harshly because its been top dog for so long and because there are basically no changes implemented from game to game. But overall I agree, CoD games are not bad, they just aren't getting any better. I also despise 90% of their community, even on pc

Whilst this game isn't spectacular, I do think the Call of Duty comparison isn't fair. i realize it wasn't a comparison of what this game doesn't have that Call of Duty does. but just keep in mind that games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty have been around and had time to be polished and balanced. comparing this game to them is like comparing a KIA to Porsche. no offense to either.

I would say this game would do better in first person. Third person shooters feel weird, nothing feels aligned correctly due to the over the shoulder view.
@MrJdubs8211 жыл бұрын
Well at least from what I've seen so far 1 problem you're going to/are having with the combat is you're treating it like COD instead of Gears of War. The entire premise is that it's a cover based shooter, you'll die every time if you run out around corners with your guns blazing instead of working with your team, using cover, and flanking.
