Just like staying home from school in the 1960s, here's some daytime television programming with a November 1968 episode of Let's Make a Deal that includes all the original commercials, including an ad for a new nighttime cop show called The Mod Squad. The BetaGems channel also has "Dating Game 1968 episode original commercials," "What's My Line 2-21-54 Lucille Ball, original commercials," "June 1992 The Hollywood Game longlost TV game show," "1960 punk dancer meets Groucho Marx on You Bet Your Life," "I've Got a Secret 2-9-56 Lucy & Desi, original commercials," "Rod Serling 10-19-72 I've Got a Secret TV gameshow appearance," and "Paul Lynde 10-13-72 I've Got a Secret TV gameshow appearance."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on KZbin or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area. This upload features materials protected by the Fair Use guidelines of Section 107 of the Copyright Act. I remember seeing this show as a kid when I was home sick. It was fun to watch.

Same here. My "sick days" started with Dennis the Menace at 9am, then Leave it to Beaver. The afternoons had the Dating Game, Newlywed Game and Let's make a Deal.

OMG, rhis episode pre-dates the horrific Bon Vivant Vichyssoise Botulinus deaths., which occurred in 1971.

"LET'S MAKE A DEAL" was always videotaped in color. This is a black and white kinescope film of the original color videotape.

1:58- The Bon Viviant Soup Company disappeared in 1971 {after 108 years in business} because some of their cans of Vichyssoise {cold potato and leek} soup were tainted with botulism......which left one man dead and his wife paralyzed, due to botulism poisoning, in Westchster, New York in July 1971. More than 6,400 cans of Vicjyssoise soup were recalled--- and distrust in the company spread to their other varieries of soup; in the end, over a million cans of various Bon Viviant soups were pulled from grocers shelves, and they filed for bankruptcy. Whatever was left of the company vanished in 1974.

I recall watching the daytime "LET'S MAKE A DEAL" in the summer of 1971 when ABC and Monty's production company provided a disclaimer about the Bon Viviant soups promoted on the program.

A kid in my neighborhood got one of those Tin Lizzy's for Christmas around 1968. The rest of us kids were jealous and he wasn't allowed to let anyone else drive it.

My mom and dad paid one out. My mom and dad had credit with a place called western auto that also sold TVs. We had the TV for years my dad knew a preacher who was a pastor at a African American Baptist church who also repaired TVs. We had the TV until the picture tube was shot.

You mean early 1969 for this Let's Make a Deal episode. ABC didn't acquire LMAD until December 1968.

Good Gracious, Story and Clark pianos were pieces of junk even back in 1968! According to the Inflation Calculator, to today's money (2024) the retail price would be equivalent to $24K.. not very much for a grand piano - poor sound and most likely poor parts used.. no thanks.
