Not quite. Federal govt is the extreme majority of income based taxes in all 50 states including lottery winnings. There is no Federal lottery. It’s more like your friend gives you a bucket and then you’re not magically exempt from the IRS just because your income wasn’t earned in a traditional way.

Or that's how poor people fuck themselves over whenever they win a bunch of money because well they don't account for hidden cost like if you buy a car now that's super expensive then it's going to be more expensive later on to make repairs and to do upkeep... If you buy a big home you need to pay someone to take care of the home in different ways because you don't have enough time to take care of it and do other things to make money. The cost of utilities for that home will be higher than a smaller home. Oh and when you get a massive amount of money you have to pay taxes because you know you benefit from basic things that are covered by taxes like roads sidewalks public electrical grid public water system and many many more things. So you don't like paying taxes fine don't pay them but you know move somewhere that doesn't have anything that's paid for by taxes...
