It's always good practice to have a GDD. They never let us forget it in college. Yours is way more organized than mine. LOL!

This is exciting, I can't wait to see your game completed and watch your process, very curious how you going to implement and execute the RPG tropes, I also hope it's not going to be another Final Fantasy. Could you please do tutorial series along side let's make a game? Or at least walkthrough us on 'how you do it' and time stamp when you are making quests, or items or battle system. It feels like rpg maker community is dying so I am excited to see someone still making games in this underrated engine. Good luck !

Thanks for the encouragement! I posted the first video today. I think you will find it is pretty different from Final Fantasy. I am planning to try and implement RPG tropes in a much more visual way. The video that dropped today is more about some of the mechanics we will be using but it is the groundwork.

Hello i found your channel today and really enjoyed this video and i am looking forward to your progress with your game. I have been using the rpg maker engins for a while (started with vx) but i have never seemed to finish a project. I bought mz when it came out but my old laptop couldn't run it well so i stopped trying to make a game however i recently bought a new gaming laptop and i am now able to us mz and i would like to say thank you for this video as i always struggle with GDDs but your way seems a lot easier so i have subscribed for more content 😊 sorry for the long post but i am really excited to follow you on this journey which has inspired me not to give up on my dream to make a game. TLDR: your video was an inspiration so i have subbed for more lol

Thank you for subscribing and I am glad the video inspired you. Is there anything specific that would be helpful? I think finishing is hard for two main reasons. One is feature creep, we always want to add more to our game. The other is rpg games are hard to do iteratively. That is they are hard to finish one step at a time. Each piece can feel so dependent on other pieces. I will probably do a video for RPG Maker tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement!

@@AutMouseLabs Thank you for the reply :) I definitely struggle with feature creep but I also find starting and writing a compelling story for the game hard and ways to stay motivated to finish what i am working on I have tried the "Do something else" approach where when you don't feel motivated to make maps for example move to something else to keep motivated, but then I end up with loads of parts of the game unfinished which demotivates me more if that makes sense lol.

Very informative and helpful video! Do you do RPG Maker coaching? I just downloaded MZ three days ago.

Thank you! I am glad it was helpful. I will be continuing this series for a while which should be helpful. I have never considered coaching before but am happy to answer questions if they come up. The subreddit and official forums over at rpgmakerweb are also great places to ask questions. As for learning the basics I highly recommend these resources: kzbin.info/door/re-L_QA3sBr0kHPVLs49KAvideos kzbin.info/aero/PLGxLMLE3NfnJ2SruKJT0WCQwMP2dcQW2w They should answer almost any question you might have about using the engine. I also recommend: kzbin.info/door/LzT1eSF7pZC6N4f6840a3Avideos Run does a great job of teaching how to think like a game dev as well as showing development in a stream format where you see the whole process. Thanks again!

Hello! I have a question, is this your own designed game design document, or did you use a template for that? I'm struggling at the moment getting my "plan" together for my first rpg maker title, and i was curious about if there are already good all round templates to use for the design document. It would be my own, and would help me alot if you have any recommendations or links or maybe even your own as guidance.

I have used templates in the past. I believe this one was my own design, though. Just make sure to keep adding to it as your project progresses. The GDD is a place where the whole team can look back and remember why decisions were made.
