@@BussinBob And how difficult is it to get a license? Do I need money for this? It is probably unrealistic for an ordinary civilian to obtain a license, except to seek help from universities or aerospace companies for cooperation

Looks great and I am sure it will get the job done! Just want to suggest a few nice things to take a look at for future projects. 1) I think micro-USB is obsolete, type-C is way better 2) You can use addressable RGB LEDs, for example, ws2812b or similar. They are just easier to route since you need just one data line to control all of them. They are very cool. 3) This DC-DC module is quite bulky. I like adding DC-DC switching voltage regulator circuitry directly to my boards. They are also very fun to design. Also don't know if you tried KiCad or not. I personally like it much more than Eagle :P Good luck! Waiting for more great stuff from you :)

Hey Dima, GREAT SUGGESTIONS! 1) Yes, I was actually considering the type-C this time, but I got a little bit lazy and had some micro-USBs still lying around so I just went with that for now. 2) I love this idea and will be doing that going forward. It'll save a lot of space on the board since each LED won't require 3 resistors and 3 microcontroller pins. 3) Yes it's bulky, normally I like the 1A version which is much smaller, but for this I got the 2A huge version to over engineer the 5V power source since I never know how many extra devices I may plug in to the pad. Also would you mind emailing me? I was actually looking to shoot you a question or two a while ago about MOSFETs a while ago, but couldn't find your email on your page.

@@Project-Horizonmaybe from a reliability perspective addressable leds aren‘t that great, especially not for critical use cases. If one of those LEDs has an issue and is let’s say shorting the data line, every led after that one won‘t work (might even light up, just doesn’t react properly or sth). That already caused headaches with simpler projects for me :)

You should try giving the rocket a sharp edge like a sword and make it stick to the ground when it lands just like a throwing knife, the soil will reduce the impact and it would land perfectly every time. The only thing is... How long of an edge it will need 😂

What background/degree do you have in order to equip you to tackle this project. I graduate mechanical engineering in 2 days and I’m looking for an intro to “this” kind of textbook- what would you recommend? I can only think of something like a control systems book?
@Project-Horizon5 ай бұрын
Congrats on graduating! I actually don't think you need a background in any of this to hit the ground running. I learned just about everything I needed from the BPS Space KZbin channel as well as other online resources/channels, and just learned as I went through the project. Joe's channel is a treasure trove of information and I would really suggest giving his channel a look. That said, with a Mechanical Engineering degree, you already likely have A LOT of the required skillsets for this project.

Hi bro! And what altitude record did you manage to achieve? And what are your goals? Is it possible to fly 100 km with such a small rocket?
@Argosh5 ай бұрын
100km is a very hard target. Sounding rockets can achieve this, but usually that's the larger variants at 3m length and bigger.

I was currently working on an altimeter using the same processor when I saw this video. Thanks a lot for you help on the pyro channels of my last board. Also: Why do they make the Atmel-ICE so expensive?? I'll have to use one of those cheap Amazon debuggers, so I won't be able to write the fuses :( Nice video, please keep going!!!
@Project-Horizon7 ай бұрын
No problem! Yeah at $200 it isn’t super cheap… I think there’s a cheaper option that Adafruit offers, but if you use that you can’t sell the board. It’s strictly for personal and non commercial use. www.adafruit.com/product/3571

Hi, I want to learn to build these small rockets. What are the things I should learn? I know programming and mathematics. What else I should learn? Can u reply?
@Project-Horizon5 ай бұрын
Hello, I would suggest to learn some CAD so that you can make your own parts for the rocket as well as learning more about electronics, specifically microcontrollers. A background in mathematics and programming will help a ton with these rockets though!

@@Project-Horizon Wouldn't you say some software too? I mean I assume the program you made on your computer as well as some of the things that handle the interaction is that. I personally do software and am wondering what it would take to get into this type of thing, it's seriously cool.
@Project-Horizon5 ай бұрын
Yes definitely! My launch pad, telemetry, and flight computers are all microcontrollers that I wrote software for in the Arduino/C++ language. Writing the software for each part was a ton of fun and taught me A LOT. I'd encourage you to try projects like this as well if you have an interest and background in software😊
