Let's make a Microwave Meal from Iceland

So i went to Iceland and picked up some instant mash, Youngs fish in butter sauce and some birdseye microwave veg. Let's put it all together for a delicious microwave meal.

I remember when those fish in sauces first came out, the sauce is lovely but the fish is half the size they used to be, they used to be twice as thick but not a bad meal with potatoes & veggies.

This was one of my faves in the 80s, Findus Cod in butter sauce😋 it’s not the same now. I just buy a packet of frozen fish and make my own sauce. Brings back memories of the 80s though 😂😂👏🏽👏🏽

It pays to shop around and look for cheaper prices. That mash is really handy when I don’t feel like peeling a load of spuds. Always have fish in butter sauce in the freezer. Great meal idea once again.

Hi Keith.. lovely honest meal there..another way to make it is to put the fish..still frozen..into a small oven proof dish.. sprinkle the frozen veg on top and then add the potatoes on top..you've got a ready made fish pie..cook it in the air fryer till crisp..💐😋x

I used to almost live on those cod in butter sauce packs when we lived in England. I also remember getting frozen mash in Tescos that was brilliant for those days when I wasn't able to peel, boil and mash spuds...

I`ve had that meal loads in the past it tastes lovely and so easy. You could also grate some Cheese into the mash to add more flavour.

Add some cheese to the mash. Buy some frozen fish fillets and a cheap packet of parsley sauce, poach the fish in milk and use that to make up the sauce. Works out just as cheap. Could you maybe have a go at some mackerel fishcakes? 🙂

The Fish used to be the tops when it came out either with Butter or Parsley Sauce and was a winner in a meal like this but maybe the fish are now much smaller in the Atlantic so Young's had to make the package much much smaller ...

Hi Keith. This is one time when having 2 microwaves comes in handy. Nice alternatively cheap meals you've knocked out today. Mate don't complain about the fish in sauce price, you're still getting it relatively cheap compared to what we pay AUD $9 for 2 portions. Highway robbery! But I'm happy to pay that as the Birdseye Thai Red Curry Sauce variety is very nice. Not to fond of the Aldi salmon in dill butter sauce though. It can be a bit fishy in taste. I'm glad Nat enjoyed the scampi bites. I'd have a plate of those thanks. Cheers Guys 👍🤤😀
