This style, with the precut sashing, appears sew much easier than working the style into the "make it work" style of management; the way I did with 3 T-shirt quilts & the blocks were not uniform in size & having it a reversible.... just WOW!!! I also appreciate seeing several examples of how to add fabric to a smaller t-shirt design to make the blocks all of the same size. The colorful quilt blocks interspersed among the t-shirt layout, provides us with many more options. When I had made each of the 3 t-shirt quilts, I included other plain t-shirt fabric, already with the stabilizer in place, and some of the smaller stabilized t-shirt fabric, to "cover/mend" any spills, tears, etc, into a small cotton drawstring bag, to be washed/ dried with the quilt, to allow for repair/ replacement or covering up, say, a stain that became unremoved. I also provided a pressing cloth, with instructions for use, if desired, by the new quilt owner, along with laundering/ drying instructions. And, the quilt label? Often added.in the binding as a floating, small design (rectangular). Then I took several pictures of the completed quilt for future reference!

So I am doing a tshirt quilt I’m getting ready to do. Mine is 6x6 12 1/2” blocks. I have all my blocks interfaced. I’m trying to figure out how exactly to quilt and put them together. My quilt is not going to be reversible. I’m going to do a backing on mine. Would I follow the same process as your video but with a backing fabric? And if I do that method, would I have to put sashing in between the blocks?

What is the measurement of the joining strip and is it sewn down the center?

I’ve used lots of pins and I’ve used fewer pins, I still miss some of the shashing on the backside. Are there any tips on how to sew on the shashing without missing some on the backside.
@FatQuarterShopTX Жыл бұрын
Hello Mary! We recommend going slow and using a 3/8” seam.

@@FatQuarterShopTX oh, ok. I thought the video said 1/8 inch seam. Thanks.

My apologies that was meant for someone else's question. 1/8" is the correct seam size. When you pin are you pushing it through the back side as well?

I've cut all my daughter's shirts, save for a couple of them at 11 1/2" square, at 13 1/2" square since my daughter wears smalls or mediums and I couldn't get 14 1/2". I plan to add fabric to bring the other cuts up to 13 1/2" but I do not plan to make everything 14 1/2" square. It seems fiddly to do it.
