My idea for the dead god's myth, before you brought out the book, was that a demigod lifted the sky from the earth to give mankind room to stand and grow. The blue grass is where the sky last touched the ground, clinging to and staining that region with color (or so the myths go). His children would go on to be the city-rulers for that society, and the citizens regularly make a pilgrimage to an obelisk that was constructed as he held up the sky. This obelisk stands where he collapsed due to the strain, serving as his grave marker and continuing to hold aloft the sky to this day.

34:00 An idea: What if it's a mythic situation, and the Raven Sister was a goddess? So she, driven by an oath she couldn't break, sought someone who needed her help, and she died of starvation. Her death changed the place she died, causing the conditions that produced that weird blue grass. Maybe her friend was at what is now the Dead God's Land, and did her honors there, dedicating the place to her, and buried her at the Dead God's Tomb, but kept some great treasure she'd been carrying? It's not perfect, but it's an idea that I think does well to link several points in that area together. I hope it at least helps get your gears turning! Keep this series going, I really like it, and it's motivating me to sit down and do some Solo RPG myself!

I am very interested in seeing further development of your fantasy sand-box game. Thank-you for sharing with us. I am developing my sandbox game using Forbidden Lands to build my character, background. From there I was thinking of using Dungeon Saga Adventurer's Companion to build the dungeons. For overland travel I have settled on a way to develop this. Maybe use Forbidden Lands again. I am excited to follow you with this game!

Just subscribed after watching a few videos. You have similar taste to mine and I'm discovering a lot I didny know about through your channel. I have to say though so many games you mention are oop I assume or maybe Kickstarter with limited or no retail sale because I can't find them anywhere but ebay. Stop getting me excited for things I can't have lol.

I like how the legends generator is up to interpretation. I do hope it does come as a separate PDF that I can buy. And mixing it up with what's in the Realm Fables books, that's a lot of fun inspiration for generating a sandbox.
@carolinelabbott24512 жыл бұрын
Just checked and unfortunately it only comes with the complete box set and not as a separate item. I did however find it elsewhere to at least be able to look at it. Though it is tied to the Lore of The Forbidden Lands, I can still see it as a useful jumping off point for inspiration.

Fun! Looking forward to seeing more of this! 👍😁 Useless trivia: The art in Forbidden Lands was originally used in the Swedish RPG Drakar och Demoner (Dragons and Demons) from 1982. It’s what I played for years and years in my youth, so it’s super nostalgic to me.

I really enjoyed watching you play. 7:26 How did you come up with "Tomb"? A sudden spark of imagination? I really thought the Idea was genius in combining "Region of a god" with "tomb" and asking yourself, how a god could possibly die. Now that alone could fill an entire campaign! Wow!
@TheDungeonDive2 жыл бұрын
You're right - that could easily be an entire campaign. I just thought of some kind of holy place, and liked the idea of exploring a tomb. I'm just always thinking of settings that would be fun to play in, and I love tombs and crypts and those kinds of things. LOL.

Tomb of a god, too often people think dead god, but there are worse things than death, a tomb of a god could mean a tomb a god is trapped in, then it makes 2 scarrier questions, What is powerful enough to capture a god? and what material is strong enough to hold a god for so long?
