I love how “real and human” you and your crew are Sarah! Every aspect of this video was amazing, from sharing your knowledge, your pain, your grief, to your tears, and laughter and your encouragement for us noobs! Thank you so much for keeping it real!

33 years ago I had started my first watercolors class, at our local art museum. My Mom passed away suddenly. It shocked me, and changed my world. I could not return to class; attempted but just couldn’t. I can’t to this day explain the reason why but, I couldn’t go back. With your videos, your steps, your encouragement I am starting back with watercolor painting. Thank You.🥰 And know that I am sending you a BIG HUG. Grieving is a lot of work. Be gentle to yourself.

I have only just recently found your channel and applaud your talents. My condolences also, for the passing of your loved one. I feel your pain, as my father passed when I was 22 yrs old, and that was 46 years ago. The tears I shed for him today come from sweet memories. May your sweet memories also carry you through. ❤️

I really learned so much about color theory and making strokes. Thank you for powering thru and teaching us about body mechanics. Also thanks for sharing your raw emotions whether giggles and laughter or tears. I will go outside frustrated and after painting come back in with a relaxed happy body.

Sarah, I'm so sorry for your loss and injury! I've lost my parents, and it can be hard to still do and enjoy your hobbies, etc. when dealing with loss. I hope you continue to find peace, healing, and comfort in painting. Take care and be kind to yourself during this time of grieving. ❤️ (Also, it was so interesting making these toned-down colors!)

I'm so sorry to hear about your bonus Dad. I don't know if this will be of any comfort, but always remember the greater the love shared, the greater the grief. You never cry like you do when you lose a parent and six years later and I'm still grieving my Daddy. Knowing he's I will see him again and lots of faith and prayer help me get through. Thanks for sharing, Sarah!

Awww Sarah, I’m so sorry for your loss..be strong…you’ll get through this…let your art guide you! I lost my dad last December and I feel your pain…family and friends help…we’re your friends and we’re here for you❤️ Hope your pinched nerve gets better too!

@Sarah please never doubt your teaching ability or style. I learned color mixing from LMA tutorials because you gave me permission to experiment and make mistakes. At my age, that was a joyous experience. I am sorry that your bonus dad has moved on but he is alive in the memories of every life he touched. Im sending you all the healing vibes.

I’m a new subbie and I’m so sorry about your loss. Praying for your family’s peace and comfort. In regards to your pinched nerve. For years when I worked in the graphic arts department for a newspaper, a coworker and myself took an oath to check each other from time (especially on production day) and reminded each other to adjust our posture, take a break, move around, stretch, etc., and it really helped. Because no artist should ever have to go through chiropractic adjustments due to their art! Love your work!

That oath would be huge. It is so important to be there for each other.

It's fitting that I just caught this video now....I was in the middle of a huge move from Nova Scotia to Manitoba when you did this and I wasn't able to catch it until now. This morning I have been reflecting on my past year and today you and your crew really "spoke" to me. I totally agree with Jill Booker - I really feel like part of your "family". Thank you for sharing and Happy New Years to you, your family, the Crew and your Art Community.

Regarding one of your final points about liking others' posts: I think I first read it from Caylee Grey (from Get Messy Art), and she said something like, sprinkle 'hearts' and 'likes' like confetti! And I have done that ever since. Any time I even so slightly pause while scrolling through social media, I will add a heart or like on that post. It takes so little effort and lets the person know you've SEEN them, even if briefly. ❤

The nicest thing is that when you limit your color palette to the six you're using, or even less, the color mixes will almost always be harmonious/will work well together. Watercolor has limitless possibilities because of mixing. I'm very sorry for your loss. I appreciate your healthy approach, cry and immerse in something else, repeat. It's good for you.
@LetsMakeArt3 жыл бұрын
You've got it! By mixing your own colors you learn how to control your temperatures and feeling of the overall painting.

I'm not much of a painter, but I can't wait to start painting again, and can't say how thankful I am for these tutorials and for Sarah and Keenan, even when i'm not painting! I always have a laugh and make great progress on my creative projects, whatever they are. Also Sarah, I hope your nerve is doing better!

"Embrace the differences that you and I have in our painting (colors)", what an excellent point you make! Yes, just cuz the shade I get is slightly different than the shade you get when we mix the same 2 colors, doesnt make mine "wrong". Thank you for those words to ponder and remember. What I mix contributes to the definition of who I am as a creative - and I am unique!
@LetsMakeArt3 жыл бұрын
So true! Celebrate that uniqueness.

Am I the only one that as kid when I painted.... after 10 minutes was playing with the water instead of painting? You know mixing colors and be excited that you found a beautiful color. Only 1 of my 4 kids did that to... my watercolorpalet I never wash of. And yet it's never full. Because I use all my mixes to mix my colors and in and on... I dont think I ever used a drip of paint direct of the pan... I have to put some other color to it.. so you see an undertone of beautiful colors. Most of my friends and family don't even see it, but I do... I van see if a color is solid or when there is an undertone. Do you understand what I wanna say? Let me give you my deep and warm sympathy and compassion for the loss of your plusdad. I saw how it worked for my kids when they lost there plus dad... 2 times in different ages... it was both times a very very hard time... so I understand the pain you feel. Sometimes a plusmom or plusdad have an intense relationship. Not made by blood... but by all the rest... trust, love, etc... so yes... take your time to greet and keep on talking about it.... big hugs...
