Thanks for another great episode, a new boat, sailing, friends and some great locations, life is good and it shows! still struggling with @pinnaclestudio as 23 is working again on heavy pc's but there answer on the bugs in the recently purchased version 24 is to offer a version 25 of which you can't know whether this one will work. Difficult to change to another program though when you've been working with this one for so long

The design, shape and colour of the hulls, blend perfectly with the colour of the sails...the best is how GC looks under sail Like a custom Mercedes AMG in gray,black flying across the sea...It's a stunning boat....and the Interior design and aft deck, looks like a modern villa on the sea Well done... In order not to counter furl the jenny while furling it tight a bit the sheet during the furl.... also the tension of the halyard is important... nice videos and great cat!

@@CatGreatcircle Een beetje zoals jullie het doen als de jongste het huis uit is. Denk zo'n twee/drie jaar met tussendoor naar huis, kinderen. Hoop dit binnen 2 jaar te doen. Een aspect wat ik steeds meer begin te begrijpen aan multihull is de veiligheid, snelheid en dat je niet beneden in 'de kelder' verdwijnt. Viel mij op bij jullie vorige cat: er waren best veel storingen en kwaliteit gedoetjes. Bij single hull gaat de voorkeur uit naar een center cockpit. Wil jullie echt feliciteren met jullie geweldige cat en de prachtige reis. Zonnige groet!

Met de vorige boot zelf hebben we eigenlijk niet zoveel problemen gehad, behalve dan dat bowsprit incident wat aan verkeerde installatie te wijten was. De apparatuur op de meeste boten wordt wel steeds meer en ook complexer, als er maar mensen zijn die een storing weer op kunnen lossen valt het meestal wel mee. Bij een leverancier met een indirect model moet je mazzel hebben met de dealer. Marijke is monohull fanaat maar zal je waarschijnlijk vragen hoeveel center cockpits er in een catamaran saloon/cockpit combinatie passen 😎

@@CatGreatcircle Ja dat laatste is natuurlijk ijzersterk en niet te weerleggen. :) Zoveel bruikbare ruimte in een multihull. Voor mij speelt ook mee dat ik voornamelijk alleen zal bedienen en soms kinderen, gasten over de vloer krijg. Zal dan kiezen voor een zelfkerende/rolfok. Mooie bij jullie cat is dat echt alles op 1 plek te bedienen is. Zonnige groet!

I notice that much of the roof is without solar panels...I take it that what you got has been calculated to be sufficient to cover all your needs, then?

We’ve got a Genset so for us it’s not an issue anyway but on most days the current solar is enough for all the consumers we have. Most Outremers without a Genset have less consumers anyway. The panels get slippery so you probably don’t want them around the mast.

We will definitely look at another O55 for the next one but who knows if there are decent alternatives for March 2025.

Now that you have done light wind sailing. Tell us what difference you feel between this boat and your previous lagoon?

The L52S isn’t bad in light winds either but only when sailing the Code 0 as high as possible which is not very high (85-90 degrees true)

Fastest VMG will be with the code 0 which will go smoothly to around 35 apparent. The self tacking jib goes higher up as you probably saw in the video

Yes we’ve been there before but perhaps August is not the best month to visit either Mahon or Ciutadella. We were looking at the anchorages on the south side but in the end didn’t have enough time this time to cross

Very true. The lithium batteries have a capacity of 600Ah at 24V so 14,4 kWh of which max 80% is available for us hence the 480Ah you see in the CZONE monitor

Yes the concept is very much alike but like always there’s the “wet van de remmende voorsprong (old Dutch saying)” where the new AST has improvements over the original. The AST looks and feels significantly more stable than the OC

And of course the version with the jockey seat is very much a new evolution of the concept enabling much more comfort and a better weight balance.
