We need more teachers like you , I work very hard to achieve my goal and a larger palette knife would help me a lot , it's taking me to long to reach my goal with what I'm working with , thanks a lot , your friend Linda Bailey from Corpus Christi Texas !

Your paintings and teaching is wonderful. I am an abstract painter who uses big shapes, palette knives and brushes. Do you give personnel critiques.

Hi Mark, yes I would be happy to give a brief critique to you of your choice of painting or piece of art a critique, and see if it helps.. You can email me at Al.wittert@gmail.com

Hi Allen, love your work and so appreciate your tips. I'm a senior newbie but have fallen in love with painting...takes my mind off any pains or problems! May I ask two questions? What is the purple color/brand and how do you get it to glide so smoothly/transparently on the canvas? Thanks for any advice
@Freeformax2 ай бұрын
Hi Philly, Looking back at the video to answer your question, I can tell you the brand I used there is called Fluor pintura acrilica. It is a dioxazine purple, so is not opaque. You may or may not find it online, it’s kind of a brand I picked up locally at big Chinese supermarket here in Porto, and the quality is surprisingly ok as I have never heard of them before. But if you have the choice, buy dioxazine purple from Liquitex or Golden, not freely available here. I use a few purples, some are more opaque than others, but generally the best quality purple I’m using is Liquitex, it’s beautifully transparent and strong, so chances are I messed with it and added a little gesso to make it more opaque and then if it needed back more oomph I use ultramarine and Alzarin mixed. So I am constantly mixing intuitively.. well, after many years of muddy colors, I’ve learned a thing or two.

I’m amused by how so many say anyone can paint an abstract. So not true! I’ve been doing art off and on for years, and have just a handful of pieces that I’d consider okay or better. I really like your style!
@FreeformaxАй бұрын
So true! And yet, I know that Anyone can, once they do a course with me 😀
@nildacruz3521Ай бұрын
Do you let dry one layer before you apply another layer or you do wet on wet.
@FreeformaxАй бұрын
Hi Nilda, It depends on whether the layer is worth keeping, or just how I feel at the moment. Nothing should be that precious that you can’t redo it or make it better.

I rather like the quiet of your voice @Freeformax . It supports the not overthinking aspect.
@faganquin6483Ай бұрын
@@christinecovert7995 that's what the volume setting is for - the viewer can put it as low as they like. but if it is barely audible at high volume that is a problem
