Let's Paint - Resident Evil 2 Zombies

Hello my friends and welcome back to my painting channel. In this video I am painting more resident evil 2 miniatures. I am painting the Iconic Zombies from the old promotional artwork of the original video game. This has been a very fun and very interesting project for me to paint with loads and loads on nostalgia.

This channel has been fuelled by you guys and the more you watch, comment and like the content the more content I will post. This channel was made during lockdown simply to show my friends how I paint in my spare time and since then it has grown into a nice little platform with quite a lot of content. Thanks for the lovely comment james. I’m glad you like the style my friend, I’ve been playing resident evil since the original came out back on the ps1 ( shhh, that’s showing my age a bit ). I really love the old style and the nostalgia of painting the models to be like their retro counterparts!

If I've said it once, I'll say it again: when you say "exactly," you mean "exactly," man. You've absolutely *nailed* the appearance of these two zombies, and I couldn't be more blown away. Your videos finally inspired me to start painting with Leon, after being a touch intimidated by the thought of painting the Survivors at all, and now I'll feel a bit better about tackling the undead. As for models from RE2 I've not seen--if memory serves--that Super Tyrant boss model seems just the right kind of challenge that I'm sure you'd be able to knock right out of the park; though, doing anything *but* dry brushing for that red, sort of 'glowing,' effect would be well beyond me!

I’m so happy to know that they do actually help other painters grow in confidence. The super tyrant would be a fantastic challenge indeed. I will look into getting him and adding him to the playlist as it would make a great video. Don’t sell yourself short my fries I believe you can push yourself and do more than you think you can. Do you use a primer when painting these first or just head straight to painting? Also, great job on the painting my friend

That’s a great question. I always prime my miniatures. Priming them allows the pint to stick to the models and gets the paint to sit nice and evenly across the whole model too. If you don’t prime your models then paint will rub off and not stick to the minis so it can be a nightmare to work with them. I normally use a grey primer but that’s just my own personal choice. I know lots of people like to you a flat black primer and that’s totally fine. The colour of the base tone will have an effect of the overall vibrancy of the end result of the colours too. I like to use grey because it’s a nice mid tone and it’s easier for me to show the details of the model on camera when I paint. I hope this all helps my friend and thanks for a great question. Hi Dan, first off - thanks for showing the palette work. I see how you made the three tones (light, mid, dark). Awesome insight. The sculpted musculature and posing are very cool and push the envelope for skin painting. I think the flesh wash is a little too dark but, that's my taste. The highlight on the visor is literally a 'stroke' of genius. That looks so good. Thanks for sharing such a gory subject. The blood 'damage' is sublime. These gory zombies are some really fun little minis and hold a lot of connection to me from the olden days playing the video games.
