The pendant in the upper right corner of conversation boxes is called a Dragon Tear. It tells of the real intentions of the person you are talking to. The following is the color and description of their intent. Black - A colour mostly reserved for Bosses, has feeling of pure hate for Ryu. Dark Red - Has very strong feelings of anger and hate towards Ryu. Red - Lack of trust in Ryu. Orange - Neutral about Ryu. Yellow - The generic colour for villagers, mostly for kind people with good intents. Yellow Green - Trusting of Ryu, willing to help out. Emerald Green - Would go to great lengths to help Ryu. Blue Green - Would sacrifice themselves for Ryu. Blue - A very strong bond Rainbow - The highest form of friendship and trust between them and Ryu that can be formed.

The Dragon Jewel symbol in the corner of the text box is basically the speaker's mood towards Ryu; green, blue, and shimmering many colors indicate they're increasingly friendly/affectionate; yellow is neutral/indifferent, orange is annoyed, red and black are increasingly malevolent.

I think the reasoning behind Ganer leaving Ryu alone is that he's older and would be able to find his way back better.

What pissed me off about this game was there were parts where if you made the wrong decision, you couldn't continue forward in the game and had to start all the way back from the beginning, like if you accidently kill one of the villagers being possessed by a facehugger.

... you can still continue the game. Ray just doesn't teach you Renew. He just gives you a worse reward. Like an item or something.

Played this game on the GBA, missed it when it first came out on the SNES. Almost finished it. Maybe in this LP I'll find out a question that I've been wondering for years....what pulled Ryu to the past and does he ever get back?
