So, what can I say about today's episode in relation to the novel? 1:36 Fa Zheng is another of Zhang Song's close and trusted friends, along with Meng Da. As in the episode, he is sent as an envoy to Jingzhou to ask Liu Bei for aid against Zhang Lu. This is the letter he carries: _Your cousin, Liu Zhang, respectfully commends the following to the attention of General Liu Bei as an elder of the clan. Long have I esteemed your lofty name, but the difficult roads of Shu have prevented me from sending tribute. For this I feel deepest shame. They say, “Share trouble, bear trouble." This goes for friends, not to speak of kinsmen. Now Zhang Lu's army on our northern borders gives me no peace, and so I send this earnest petition for your weighty consideration. If you decide to take cognizance of our common ancestry and preserve honor among brothers, you will raise an army at once to rid us of these violent marauders. In that way we will remain mutual adherents, “lips and teeth," and you will be richly rewarded. No letter can say all that I wish. I expectantly await your arrival._ I did a Google search for "lips and teeth" and apparently it's a Chinese expression about interdependence. 2:17 Liu Bei actually goes to the Riverlands himself, with Huang Zhong, Wei Yan, Liu Feng, Guan Ping, and Pang Tong. Guan Yu is left to defend Jingzhou. This is the point Liao Hua (see Episodes 45 and 46) joins up, and he's assigned to assist Guan Yu. Zhuge Liang, Zhang Fei, and Zhao Yun are also left behind. 5:40 Like I said last time, this guy's portrait is awesome. 9:28 Wang Kang is only mentioned a handful of times, and the first time is not for a while after this. He's the governor of Yongchang (one of the Riverlands districts), and for the duration of his mentions is loyal to Liu Bei's kingdom, so I don't know why he's attacking Liu Bei's army in a forest in Jingzhou. Maybe he settled down later. 9:31 Huo Jun is a former commander under Liu Biao, although he's mentioned for the first time around this point. He's assigned to defend a pass alongside Meng Da, and that's all he ever seems to do. Another odd choice to attack Liu Bei's army. 14:28 Fa Zheng does eventually join up with Liu Bei and serves as one of his best advisors for a while.

Continuing forward with a new setup! 5:39 - 5:55 - I looked up what this dude looked like yesterday. I can see what Pheehelm meant. 14:24 - 14:45 - The game's like: You will recruit this dude! No ifs, ands or buts!

That _weird_ thing that I mentioned in my last comment, is exactly what happened to you - the slot *Huang Zhong* had, acted like the slot that *Zhao Yun* had, and so I had to reset, and configure further. It's fixed for me, now - don't you worry! Ah, _the-million-dollar-smile guy_ *Zhang Lu* himself... I say that for an _obvious_ reason, and don't worry, guys - we'll get to him eventually! *Li Jian* is _indeed_ fun to use, ignoring the facts that the tactic might miss, it may not last very long on an enemy that it *did* land on, or said affected enemy just keeps on hitting himself, when you _really_ want him to target one of his allies, instead! It's always fun to see *Xu Zhu* hit *Cao Cao* for *dino* damage, I can't lie!

I had to skip through the preparation phase just so I can get to the fun part. Not that I plan on playing Destiny of the Empire 1 or 2... The Chinese names of the tactics/spells aren't interesting to me, but I came here just to enjoy the story of the game.

Fair enough. It took me awhile to get used to the nomenclature in the first game.
