I think that unfinished boat at the end of the 4th resource area in Terra Incognito was a teaser for DQB2. Not gonna give details about that though, there's a demo available that speaks for itself. ;)

All HAIL Battlecat! ... apparently there's an entire questline up here. A much shorter one, that seems to be mostly challenges that reward you with more unlocks, but it's something, and makes me glad it wasn't just .... minecraft flatland dragonquest.

There are also Battlecat specific (or incredibly annoying/difficult without Battlecat) challenges that exist throughout this mode, which makes the Battlecat even better. :D Like some challenges that would require you to reach floating platforms, wade through poison, dig through winding caves and fight through hordes of enemies are made *considerably* easier with Battlecat.

Great showcase of Terra Incognita, though you did miss one island: Terra Gladiatoria. For anyone curious, it's essentially an island dedicated to fighting waves of monsters. You craft tickets to pick your fights, and most of the rewards are rare/weird items like Whopping Needles and Dilapidated Crates. It's a slightly easier way to grind mob drops.

Whopping Needles can also be found as a rare drop off of Brownies. I've snagged a few of them while grinding. You can also get Round Tables from the big Stone Golems walking around with the little Stone Golems.

Yeah, they're obtainable normally. I just say "slightly easier" because the drop rate is better in Terra Gladiatoria at the cost of crafting tickets and fighting 4-8 mobs at once instead of 1-2.

Seems fun. Really give you access to everything. It is neat you still have to earn it. Also like that you can see and share with other people on those plots

I recommend Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle to help fill that building with story bug. They're older games, but still good. I'd recommend White Knight Chronicle 2, but the online is no longer available, sadly.

A very worthy series. I do kind of wish you'd revisit Subnautica before moving on to DQB2, though. I think Subnautica pulled off the idea of the crafter-protagonist a lot more successfully. Riley can solve very few of his problems with violence in that game.

Yay! :D Terra Incognita requires that you at least beat Chapter 1, but you get better prizes/recipes based on how well you do. I will note that you should refrain from enabling online mode before beating the game to prevent spoiling some of the crafting recipes, blocks and other things that spawn in if you also activate the summoning tablet plots around Terra Incognita. I spoiled myself of Slime Baloons that were made available in Chapter 2. The also major downside of this mode is there is no conversation options here. You can have NPCs show up as you play, but beyond having them join your party as you go off and fight monsters for materials (which is quickly made useless by saving the Great Sabrecub), they're just kind of there. They walk around, interact with things in you town, put things in your chest, but don't have any real personality. Honestly, this mode can feel less like the reward for beating the game, and more like the "half the world" the Dragonlord was offering, ha ha. However, saving the Great Sabrecub makes this kind of boring mode a lot more interesting. Fast-travel + Double jump + No Fall Damage + jump/claw damage equal to the weapon you currently have equipped + special blocks for jumping on enemies = the best friend ever. :D Without the Sabrecub, I'm pretty sure most people would avoid this mode altogether as gathering materials, fighting enemies, and building would be more tedious than anything. But instead, you can equip the Hammer of the Builder or the Sword of Kings, one-shot nearly any enemy by jumping on them, grabbing those sweet Pixel blocks/materials, tear through mountains and caves, and go to town building your dream house/world.

Eh, I never really expect Naka to show off everything, which means that I can still make new discoveries even after he's completed the LP. I also can't really fault him for not knowing about the Pixel blocks, I found them completely by accident myself...after finding the recipes requiring them in the recipe list. I fell off a cliff while riding the Sabrecub onto an enemy and was like...I CAN GOOMBA-STOMP THE ENEMIES?! :D

@@mindscapejem which is totally understandable, he is still my favorite let's player after all. It would just be cool for those of us that can't play the game to see everything that's in it without having to look stuff up, which happens quite a bit with his let's plays

5:50 OK OK pause the video. WHAT?!! Dragon Quest WHY?! why did you wait until the player finishes the game to introduce ONE party member that is USEFUL, CUTE! and BADASS!? and can be used as a mount! imagine if you could meet this little fella in chapter 1, then somehow it follows you to chapter 2 out of sheer determination, and so on all the way to chapter 3 because Tantegel would just be too dangerous for the poor thing. Whyyyyy! now I wanna get the game just to beat it and try building and such... and have this lil fella running around...!

It's most likely because the Sabrecub is SUPER Overpowered and would remove any challenge from the game. **spoiler** **spoiler** **spoiler** **spoiler** Especially once you learn you can jump on any enemy while riding him...like I did...accidentally. I fell off a cliff onto an enemy and it counts as an attack, so it removes the risk of fighting nearly every enemy. He also removes any risk of fall damage, you can mine blocks with his claw attack, his attacks don't use up any durability of your currently weapon, his strength of his jump/claw attacks are scaled to your currently equipped weapon, hunger is drastically slowed while riding him, you can freely walk on nearly any surface without issue (except open water), immune to status effects, he doesn't have a health bar and fast travel with a double jump.

@@mindscapejem I wonder if they could have tweaked the little guy. I mean, if you say it scales with your equipment that makes absolute sense, but maybe remove some of the stronger aspects, or like the bashmobile, make them strictly a mount while being ridden, and as a party member with a healthbar when not. Still, having them around for Incognita sounds marvelous!

Another reason why he's not in the story: he's a Switch exclusive. The PS4 version didn't have him and probably never will. A good (and adorable) reason to call the Switch version the definitive edition.
