Nice, been looking forward to this, and best camera angle yet imo. Also nice touch with the warm light at the back

Appreciate that. I think the background needs to be a little cleaner. Working on getting some stuff out of the way like my wireless router which surprisingly doesn't stick out like a sore thumb too much!

Native Instruments' / Soundiron's "Symphony Series Brass Ensemble" has a "Bend Down" articulation for the horns very similar to the one you showed. Granted, it's not as beefy as Forzo's, but still quite effective if you want to evoke some kind of ominous / uneasy feeling in your score.

Majestica from 8DIO also has bends. Also have another one with them, but can't remember if it's Century Brass (from 8dio) or The Orchestra that has them as well

Hi Geoff, awesome review. I'm struggling to decide whether to get Forzo or its "Essentials" version. What's confusing is that Forzo Essentials supposedly has loop content that the full version doesn't have which is odd. Have you tried or perhaps own Essentials and if so can you comment on the difference? Thank you in advance.

To let you know, Audio Imperia got this bend articulation you was hunting for in their both Talos libraries (without the punch in). Thanks for sharing your new quests and experiments.

Nice. Wouldn't have even thought of those guys on account of the whole not being too too in Hybrid scoring stuff but thanks for the suggestion. Feel like next time I need something I'll put out an APB on KZbin social, lol. You guys know way more than I do.

I'm surprised if there's no articulations like the first one in any of the Spitfire libraries, this is a great sounding piece of kit

Agreed. And I've looked. It could be hidden in an Albion that I do not have (Don't own 2 or 4), but I'm super happy with Heavyocity's bend.

This is like a topic unto itself cause actually this year, like last, I reached this higher level of consciousness where I only bought stuff I actually needed! (Believe me..I want all of it..well most of it) but only really need a fraction. In fact I picked up two libraries that were not on sale yesterday: Sonokinetic's NOIR and Project Sam's Swing More! on account of a jazz film i'm currently scoring.
@MusicalWizardryMarcoIannello6 жыл бұрын
@@ManchesterMusic I am expecting a video about NOIR, then, and perhaps you could tell a little bit of how you have been using it for scoring that film, without revealing anything of it, of course. I bought it a few months ago, but because of other projects, I have not yet got down to use it properly

Some of the tonal quality in some presets reminded me of the sound of Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Fanfare For The Common Man. Spitfire have just released walkthroughs of their new Brass and Brass Pro - the libraries have some very "gutsy" [fff] brass samples.

Excellent review man. Would love to hear you demo some of the Output stuff. Not sure if Analog Brass has a bend sound but it is a great sounding library. We should connect man. I work solely in music licensing and would love to get more in to scoring. Cheers, and great work.

@@ManchesterMusic i understand, ok. Do you like playing solo instruments on Forzo ? I mean, i know it's designed for movie scoring but are the solo instruments worthy ?
@ManchesterMusic6 жыл бұрын
@@florentmagere3782 The solo instruments sound excellent but you might disappointed with the number of articulations/playing styles available, because Forzo is not a Solo-geared library. For example, you'd find considerably more brass instruments, articulations and mic positions in a product like Berlin Series Brass by Orchestral Tools as opposed to Forzo.

@ManchesterMusic6 жыл бұрын
I don’t work for these dudes or a sample library company but my gut tells me this is all live recordings and the loop designer is just automated manipulation of the samples captured through an engine designed by Heavy. For FORZO, pretty sure they got the samples from recordings at Skywalker.
@darkcisum33846 жыл бұрын
@@ManchesterMusic Ah I didn't really meant it w.r.t. the sample libraries, those are mostly live recordings I'd assume. I was more wondering how much of the soundtracks we hear nowadays are purely made on the PC and how many are with live orchestras/musicians. Not in a judging way at all, just curious. :)
@ManchesterMusic6 жыл бұрын
Oh. I’d wager a guess that most of what you hear on television (even prestigious cable shows) are samples. This is due to serious time constraints and living in the peak TV era. Same with indie films. The top ten you see opening weekend at a big cinema are probably live off the floor orchestras. Videos games are a mix, learning more towards samples.
