I think it's a great concept with bad execution. The IDEA is fantastic and very unique, but the 'challenge' was achieved via bad controls (the dodging of blows in the cabins is intentionally delayed to cover up the fact that Jason's fighting style is not intelligent or nuanced at all), confusing directionals (left is sometimes right on the map; then in the woods up is up, but then up is down, all the cabins look the same inside and out), items appear in cabins you've already searched (this would be OK if the insides weren't so confusing), a long pointless, health-draining runaround that sends on you on an unnecessary pursuit of fireplaces, a flashlight, a machete, the cave, Jason's mother, the sweater [you'll save more health by just skipping the cave and Jason's mother altogether], the pitchfork [completely unnecessary]) and certain characters that are just useless. If they had made combat with Jason actually interesting and not just "difficult by bad control' and had made it so that most of the game actually needed to be played, it could have been a fantastic game, but they didn't. You played the game much in the way they intended, and if you pretend that's necessary, it seems kinda fun, but when you realize that 2/3 of the game can be skipped and it's much easier that way, it takes a lot of the fun out of it for most people. I agree with some of the good qualities you mentioned, such as the replay value, (and it had really nice atmosphere, too) but for me, the good is far outweighed by the bad in this one, and the fact that it's by LJN has nothing to do with it (other than "challenge by way of confusion & bad controls" was their M.O.) I'm glad some people enjoy it, though. :)

Yeah, it looks like the new Friday the 13th game coming out lets you team up on Jason. You know there's also a fast way to get the torch right? If not, there's videos on here and walkthroughs on GameFAQs that tell you how to do it.
