The first four rows should always be reserved for houses only with the exceptions being three arenas to cover the entire housing district. To be replaced by either churches or guard towers depending on the path you take. With steam hubs distributed throughout so that there are no areas without heat.

Finished the First Story on 3rd attempt today I'm quite proud of myself. 508 people continued to live that day. Ran out of coal juust as the temperature dropped to 150 degrees and prayed to God that no one would die before sunrise, and no one did. Those last few minutes were intense!

I didn't even watch the video, the title made me laugh so hard I fell off my chair, you earned a thumbs up for that alone. ooohhhh -40 so scary *laffs* I used to play outside in -60 with the windchill, I guess the Brits weren't built to handle the cold.

-40 with windchill isn't hard at all. -40 before windchill and near the sea is quite a bit worse. I was freezing way more in Tromsø at -15, than in Tynset at -45. Humidity and wind is the real killer. And if you look at the scouting map, they are close to the sea.

It's likely just a way for the children to be less of a drain on the resources. I'm sure it is perfectly possible for it to be played without picking the child labor but it is FAR easier WITH the child labor because then the kids (let's just say a third of the population for ease of math) is now doing things for the group as well and not just sucking up food and warmth.

Pro tip when dealing with colds and most illness: Zinc! Zinc binds to the receptors that the most common colds attack, This is what coldezz and Zicam use to reduce the time for the illness. Iv been using Zicam since my 14th birthday, it knocks the time down to 4-5 days instead of the usual 8-10

Yeah, it was odd, I don't browse the complete comment section of his videos, but apart from the complaints of his having missed something (understandable when commentating / reading twitch chat etc), I'd not seen much real negative/abusive comments happening.

Yeah same for me. I hate turned off comments sections and just pretty much always press the dislike on videos just for that, even pressed dislike here just for that one comment from him. Usually only people who have something to hide turn their comments section off so that no one can point stuff out, but that shouldn't be the case for quill. Sure some comments are stupid or just repeated jokes but most are good. I think when Quill turns off comments he pretty much dies for me.

I kind of understand it. On a livestream it can be difficult to manage a larger audiance. As for youtube, it depends on the community. The Quill18 community is quite chill, but there are a few that are literally bat-shit crazy.

North-north-east, you have to get all the way to Svalbard to reach 1.9k miles, and while there are coal, there are no trees. North west you reach Greenland, that has (small) trees, but no coal (at least not on the east coast). Newfoundland fits with having both coal and trees, but is a bit further away, as well as being straight west rather than north.

What you do s you send in the troop to use force to suppress the troublemakers. Have them killed then use them to feed the existing populace increasing contentment. Use some of the troublemakers by having them fight to the death in the arena for the entertainment of the people.

It might also be Svalbard. It fits with the distance, it doesn't have much in the way of trees though. But there is plenty of coal in the ground and nothing but sea between northern Scotland and Svalbard, even though you sail relatively close to the Norwegian coast.

Crossing the sea from London would surely be the North Sea. If mega storms are hitting the UK from south-ish, they'd be from the Atlantic - you're not going to head in that direction (to Iceland/Greenland etc.).

I'm going to have to watch your playthough to see how to get food. I did 2 playthrough and each time I do fine except for food.. I had 2 hunter's huts going with 15/15 workers (30 total) and I couldn't even sustain positive food output. Wonder what i'm doing wrong.

Everyone doing Frostpunk letsplays seems very confused about where "The North" could be, assuming it is actually directly north of Great Brittain. Northern Europe, Scandinavia, is commonly referred to as"The North". This is also "across the sea" from Great Brittain.

Been playing on Xbox gamepass, its great, my only complaint is depending on what t.v. you use all the hud may not show up properly, but that's a given with all games if you're using older/weird sized tvs
