I just finished watching the .hack//Sign anime so I've got the urge to play through this game again to re-learn what happens. ***** I'm surprised there haven't been any rough versions of a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game lol) either! I'm pretty sure there should be some coming out within the next 5 years since the Oculus Rift seems to have taken a pretty dominant role in VR technology, but indie game developers don't typically have the resources available to create a full-scale version of something like .hack. Sword Art Online, however, could probably be reproduced with the graphics of .hack and a severe reduction of floors - maybe 10-20 at most.

See but even with .hack ish graphics I would be more than fine with that. I feel if you can get the immersion and story right it doesn't matter what it looks like. Yes the more fluid things are the better youll be immersed but some of the best games that drew me in looked like it was built with legos lol.

+Elmer J. Fapp I agree they had an online game that wasn't a hit and ended its servers a while back before the US got a chance to look into it, however I believe a small group brought the servers back online and it is playable. Nakateleeli plays it on his channel if you want to take a look.

@@lambboni9159 The online game in Japan was literally the single player .hack games, but you could play with up to two other people. It wasn't a persistant online game or a real MMO. A .hack MMO would be amazing, but it would need a lot more to it than the .hack games we already have to make it a long-term choice for MMO players. .Hack is one of my favorite games and has a great story. But at the end of the day, it still had repetitive gameplay that involved exploring basically the same dungeon over and over again. That's not going to last long term as a real online game

@@Lord_of_the_sixth_house Incorrect. The game in question, .hack//Fragment, featured both an offline story mode (featuring characters from IMOQ, Sign, and even Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. The Story mode was similar to IMOQ though replaced with the Players own OC. However in-between you could use the PS2's Internet (yes it had that) to connect to online servers and play with other players. Now yes it was basically just still playing .hack but with friends but it was online with massively multiple people...or at lest that probably was the game plan before the game did poorly and had its life support pulled. So while it wasn't a, as you put it, "Real MMO" it was online with other players.

Wow I forgot I made that comment, how time flies! But no, yeah. I guess you're technically right. In the broadest sense of the term. But, I never said it wasn't online. I had a ps2 and while I maybe was too young at the time to really appreciate the online aspect of the console back then, I was aware of it. Idk, I don't remember the dates so idk what year it was. BUT! Being an RPG that is online does not make an MMO, if you ask me. Which, I guess nobody did but I'm gonna list a few things that make, imo, a game into an MMO. 1. A community - An MMO has an active online community, at least in game. The people in this community must be able to meet, make friends, and communicate without need for external websites or programs. Those obviously help, but if you can't make friends with strangers that you see just running around in the game doing their thing, doesn't count. Imo. 2. Progression - An MMO is going to get old really, really quickly, without proper, well thought out progression. This progression is represented through gaining better gear, fighting harder bosses, reaching some sort of end game, etc., etc. There's got to be a goal. It can be an ever-changing goal, and the more potential goals for the player to set the better. But if playing online is nothing but grinding randomized dungeons, doesn't count. Still imo. If the game in question has a killer story, double points. 3. Economy - People don't think about this one, but it's true. (Subjectively speaking I guess.) I don't know of a single MMO that doesn't have some kind of economy, with a market board, an auction house, or a way to buy and sell stuff from other players facilitated through in-game means. Of course you can always buy and sell stuff directly by talking to people, or through a forum, or what have you. But if there's no in game way to facilitate trade, doesn't count. 4. There's probably something I'm not thinking about, so I'm putting a 4 here so someone doesn't show up in another year and say, "Hey you forgot about blank or blah or whatever." I didn't mean to get this wordy here, but sometimes you get on a roll and end up writing a damn essay. As I said, this is largely my opinion, I'm not a game dev, or even really that tech savvy, and I'm not fact-checking or looking anything up right now cause this whole shpeel is kind of an impromptu thing. It's better than "lol it's been a year dude chill" though! I'm just a guy who likes video games and apparently has too much free time. I also hope I don't come off as rude, that's not my intent. I just kinda went on a tangent. And I like to write. So. Yeah. But still, nothing but respect for a fellow .hack fan. tldr: Sure you're technically right I guess, but I think it's more complicated than "it would have lots of people and you can play it online." If classifying an MMO(genre) was that easy, gta 5 would be considered an MMO, because you can play it online and it has lots of people. That too, imo, doesn't count.

This game was my CHILDHOOD. I remember just chilling in my little gaming room playing this and sitting around, too terrified to beat Skeith! I beat everything in the end though, and it's STILL my favorite game!

I miss this setup. Whole Fields AND Dungeons in the same Area. G.U. chopped up the Fields into small islands and Removed Dungeons making them a separate Area. Not to mention completely removed Goddess Ponds.

When games in IRL become this expensive, it's more reasonable to use an emulator. They can't expect you to pay that much for inferior game play and graphics. I would recommend playing the original series if you don't mind the downgrade, since the story is still interesting and the characters are quite likable. You might even recognise some characters from G.U. in the original series.

If by a gamer you mean starting a KZbin channel and uploading then of course I would recommend it, with that said you need to do it for you. Don't worry too much what other people may think. Some will actually help you grow with criticism but it's still the internet and there are many key board warriors who love to stir up problems. So if you personally have a desire to put yourself out there and give KZbin gaming a try by all means please do. The community is never too big to try. Being a "gamer girl" is irrelavent if you like games you're a gamer regardless of girl boy or robot. Please note going into gaming on KZbin requires more work than it appears with all of the equipment and effort to get the video from the devices but its fun if you're into the challenge. Give it a try, start small don't do any huge projects right away, like I wouldn't recommend starting with a 100+ hour RPG instead start with something that doesn't require too much continuity in case you run into a problem or two before you get everything all flowing. Let me know if you start to upload I'll be sure to check out your channel and sub to get you growing. hope I helped -TLG

they actually ended up creating a psp game of .hack and a movie (so much EPICNESS) along with the movie created a fighting game.....and a card game version on ios I think its not working tho since 5 came out.... hoping they make more

As far as I remember the anime and this are majorly different. The anime is after this whole event and the main character gets teh same character design as kite which is rare supposedly they won a contest allowing them that skin and his friend (newly made in the game) wins the blackrose heavyblade skin and the kite character gets stuck in the game and is unable to log out etc :P so its deffinately worth a watch.

***** You're almost correct. First we have the novel .hack//A.I. Buster, then .hack//Sign. Following that, .hack//IMOQ, .hack//Another Birth, and .hack//Liminality all take place at the same time. Following that, Legend of the Twilight. Then, the first 20 minutes of G.U., then Roots, then the rest of G.U.

Tobi San it's a great series maybe it will come to steam because I just saw GU was just ported to it. Hopes are high as you can see a lot of people are nostalgic for it. Especially with the rise of the anime type , SAO, accell world, no game no Life, Kings avatar, in another world with my cell phone, fantasty of grimgar and Ash etc they might bring it back.

TehloneGamer I have G.U. it’s on PS4 and PSN. You can playthrough the entire G.U series from disc 1 to the new one. I agree with the rise of all the new anime and games I can see it as a great time for a revival for the Hack series it was really a gem and ahead of the times

+Skye Stinson Yes I do apologize for that D: I have issues with the audio currently the current motherboard seems to have some issues and my audio has to be set to 10 to not blow my ears out but when it records and goes out its a lot lower. I will be building a new rig soon with a different brand motherboard to alleviate this issue.

Jackie Marrow Personally, as a .Hack fan, I don't think the anime was really the most attention grabbing, mostly because it's just really slow moving, but it's a great show nonetheless. Ugh, the games though. Pure candy.

The L.A. Notes Yeahhh, parts of the animes are pretty slow. .hack//Sign especially can be pretty boring, but it's not a video game, and the entire thing is a metaphor for a broken but slowly recovering person in the first place. Very much a philosophical show.
