Note This is the vanilla version of Heroes Of Might & Magic 3 re-imaged for HD. As of right now, neither expansion is available for this version and as such SOME features are missing. It's a bit sad that so many people throw so much hatred because they released a first step and not have the entire HOMM series in HD instantly. Give it some time and enjoy!
Ahhh Heroes of Might & Magic 3. One of the all time best games ever made. Many people consider it best in the series and fans of Turn Based Strategy games consider the Heroes of Might & Magic series to be one of the best in the genre. The HOMM series is classic and iconic and many people feel it still stands the test of time. Well, we're about to see if that's true! What is HOMM3 HD? It's the re-imaging of the original HOMM3, obviously. The game has resource management, multiple heroes and armies you control, resource nodes to defend, towns, buildings to build and upgrade, heroes to level and troops to mass. If you're a fan of Turn Based Strategy games and haven't heard of Heroes Of Might and Magic, you're in for a treat! HOMM3 finally releases in full HD and I have to say, I'm super stoked. The game is fun, challenging, and satisfying. If you have always wondered about the Heroes Of Might & Magic series but never took the plunge....this is a GREAT place to start. So, join me as we go back 15 years and begin the adventure, all over again!

Ok. So. Born in 1988. Started playing this in 2000. By best friend that lived 2 stories above me got it. We played it everyday. Couple of months later, he burned me a CD so i played it. Couple of months after that, we ran a LAN cable from my apartment to his to play multiplayer together. We played it for 2-3 hours every day from 12 to 19, before we went to college. I shit you not, the HOMM3 CD never left one of my 2 ROM units. On the last fucking day of summer before we left for college, the CD blew up in the unit. A 7 year old CD that spun everyday decided that was the moment to go. That always felt specia. I still have the pieced and we still play to this day.

When I first started campaigns, I would focus on one power hero and several others that would collect and scout. I didn't realize how important it could be to have four really solid heroes moving on to the next campaign. Ugh. Anyway, thank you for playing this - I love this game so much I'm always looking for let's plays to watch when I'm not literally playing it myself :)

The great thing about this and other 'Heroes' games is that there are several ways to play. However, that also can drive some people insane if you play different or worse than they do. Over the years, I find that the way I tend to play works quite well for the base games...it's when I get into the Expansions that I struggle badly. :(

Just started watching and I'm really enjoying this (finished first mission). HoMM 3 is my favourite TBS. Iirc, in some HoMM games, the further your mounted troops (e.g. Champions) have to move for an attack, the more damage they do. Don't recall rn how it worked in HoMM 3 but I always used mounts to attack the furthest troops they could (even if they started next to an opposing unit). With tactics, it was especially useful to get them a couple of spaces ahead before combat so they could immediately murder one opposing unit.

I know people say it isn't worth it for 'slightly' higher definition sprites but for $3.99 on Steam right now, I'd say it's worth it for the ability to play the game without the units being super tiny or setting the screen resolution to 640x400 and having super blocky units.

I didn’t know there was something like this before. Wow. 6 years ago, my mom was still alive during this time. And this game brings me back to my childhood. I was the drummer musician during this time. 6 years later, totally different person but my love for the game hasn’t disappeared. Feels like I’m the one playing the game. I can be considered one of the haters myself. I say that people shouldn't waste money on it, just because of slightly higher definition sprites, instead they should buy the Complete edition from GoG which is actually cheaper and include all the content+DLCs

You should read my reply to ACreator. Keep in mind, this makes recording for me SOO much easier and is the MAIN reason I am really excited about this. Another reason is I am hoping a whole new generation of gamers will fall in love with the HOMM series. Finally, I'm looking down the road that if this does well, perhaps the entire HOMM series WILL be in HD and at a reasonable price. They took the time to remake a lot of the old RPG iconic classics like Baldur's Gate I and II as well as Icewind Dale. Either way, I hope you enjoy watching me stumble through the game and I DO understand why people feel the way you do.

The problem is that the source codes were not saved for the expansions. They were rushed as you can see with Conflux. Ubisoft did a lot of Remasters and they always give the full content of these games. In this case it was the original devs fault. Its a shame because the sharp graphics are awesome and true to the original. Especially the towns look so nice.

Tip- start off by upgrading ur town hall so u can get more gold, if u buy creatures you wont have money to but them later.

+BlacknWhite076 Yeah, it's only effective to a point. I find later in the game, or perhaps in the xpacks, it's hard to keep everything with just one big army. I still prefer to play it that way, but...it does fall off after a while.

+Jedidiah Winslow Sorry for the delayed response. A lot of folks tend to mass produce heroes with little to no army just to spread across the map and take things. Or they split there army in 2-4 armies strong enough to deal with neutrals and send them to the four corners to tag everything. The rushed play works pretty well and I found I ran into issues in the expansions with failing because I kept getting out positioned by the enemy. I'd beat one in the South east side of the map, then lose a town in the northwest. When I took that over I'd lose 8 resource buildings in the south, and I spend most of my time just running around trying to keep what I already had from baby heroes while the enemy expanded quicker than I did and gathered too much strength. :(

Don't understand the hate. Everyone knows you can get the full edition with all the expansions on GoG but for people who'd like to play an HD version of this game without having units the size of ants this is a nice option. No one's forcing you to buy it and it did take time to re-do all the sprites by hand so somehow those people have to get paid. I agree that it would've been nice to re-do the cut scenes and have all the expansion packs but I'm not going to get pissy over it.

It has the map editor on the splash screen before you go into the game. :) Multiplayer works, but it doesn't have the random map generator, as that did come in with the expansions I believe.

I'd prefer even more'Ancients Universe' DLC. for H7 Why don't remake a cinematic into modern standard of the 2017 but keeping the late 90 ones? if Starcraft Remastered remade its cinematics to keep up with a series of heavy retconnings of the series... I don't see that everyone will bother to buy UBI 'remastered' Heroes3 At least they don't ruin Tracy Iwata's unit graphics either.

just to be honest and even though im a fan of your videos, I am one of those haters. Releasing a gme that just has HD because it was a patch made FOR FREE from the community (note that is they only thing different from the normal HOMM) that can be used with the expansions and not release it with expansions is just a money grubbing tactic

The HD patch made by the community has it's share of problems. I still have a hard time finding software that will record the original HOMM3 patched or not and the HD settings for the game made everything so tiny it's really hard to see or even play on HD. 2 things though. 1. I agree that if you just want to play the game, getting the full HOMM3 Complete might be better at this time. However, if you want to record, play a game that was designed to be HD not having to deal with patches or mods, or have access to Steam's multiplayer options *which I still hear has some issues*, this is still a good choice. 2. The problem with older games is that they ARE older games. People generally won't play them if they have to do anything beyond installing them. I know a buddy of mine really liked HOMM 5, I recommended he tried 3 and he passed. He plays 5 and 6, but anything before it, doesn't interest him. He asked if I thought HOMM3 HD was worth it. It's a way to bring an old AMAZING game to a new audience. I understand you and many people are coming from, but for what I do, this is great. I hope they DO re-image the entire series from 1-4, with all the expansions and keep it reasonably priced. I would agree that $15 for only the base HOMM3 is a bit low, maybe $20 for the complete game would be worth it. I'd probably even pay $39.99 for HOMM3 HD Complete with Heroes Chronicles HD Complete bundled with it. I honestly think any HOMM3 Fan would. I close with this: I saw it took like 30,000 hours or something to upgrade the graphics and make it true HD, not just re-scaled with the tiny map and such. It's a lot of work and this might be them testing the waters to see if it's viable that they put in the time, money and effort to bring the old HOMM games to the new age of technology. In addition, as I said earlier, it might/should appeal to people who missed this series or never heard of it. Turn key game without DOSBOX or having to patch, will appeal to many. My hope is that, all the old school hardcore HOMM3 fans don't bash this so hard that Ubisoft just ends it here. I hope I made some sense and I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Honestly, compared to a lot of AAA companies, Ubisoft isn't that bad. Look at EA, Paradox, 2k, Creative Assembly, those are the ones that murder you with DLC. :)

BumpyMcSquigums While things you are saying do make some sense,you are trying to fool yourself with ignoring the fact that Ubisoft doesn't have a source code for any of the expansions for Heroes 3 and the are not going to "throw away" the money recreating the expansions from scratch.So expansions WILL NOT COME OUT.This HD remake is absolutely bare bones without many patches,features and rebalancing that expansions brought.Couple that with WoG,HD mode and Horn Of the Abyss that is actually adding a whole new faction and lot's of artifacts,creatures,a new campaign and many more stuff and it's actually of high quality and not amateurish or imbalanced and all of this is actually FREE if you have Heroes 3 complete which is only 9$ on GOG you can easily see why so many people are hating it.And multiplayer is easy with programs like hamachi or tungle.And I actually agree with you that Ubisoft isn't as bad as many other AAA companies,you must realize that they also like other AAA companies do not care about us the consumers enough to actually make an effort to truly do a solid remake of an 15 years old game. You also mentioned in some other comment that they remade Baldur's Gate but that remake was not done by an AAA company.I think that in itself is saying allot.

This argument only makes sense if they were actually working on the two expansions, but they never did and never will. It has now been over 4 years since the release of the "remaster", and the old complete version remains the superior one. Also available to it are numerous community-contributed fixes, custom maps, unofficial expansions, and other mods. There's really no point in getting the crippled HD version, which for some reason has a higher price. You're paying more for a lesser game, a borderline scam.

Pro: easy multiplayer via steam, sharp graphics, achievements. Contra: no expansions because the source codes were not saved. Conflux, Campaigns and Random Maps are missing. I dont bother Conflux though because they just seemed squeezed in there with recycled monsters

Waste of money for an old game that looks exactly the same. Some forced texture filtering and anti-aliasing would do the same trick for high resolution. And for teh lulz: 1. Buy many heroes and put all armies to the strongest. 2. Rush! 3. ??? 4. Profit.
