This was always one of my favorites when I was little. It's probably no coincidence that one of the first trips I took on a commuter train was to a museum. (Well, technically it was a zoo, but I suppose that's a type of museum)

It's such an old kids' joke, and I do indeed remember it from that book! It was also used in "Little Critter's Joke Book" from 1993 (though the punchline was changed to "Time to fix the fence"), and was also featured in "Putt-Putt Joins the Parade" (albeit replacing "fence" with "chair").

You missed something on the train--if you click on one of the bolts on the wall above the back door, (I believe the fourth one from the left) there's this hologram of a girl (my guess is it's a Star Wars reference, but I haven't played this game in decades) saying, "Super Critter! I need your help!" Little Critter's mom is asleep through this whole thing. Little Critter runs out of the train and it cuts to a CGI space scene and Super Critter's theme song comes on and he saves the girl in space who I believe kisses him on the cheek and makes him blush. Little Critter gets back to his seat on the train and his mom wakes up.

Critter City might be New York City in Mercer Mayer style, New York has a Museum of Natural History, an art museum, the Empire State Building like in King Kong, big stores, taxis, fancy restaurants like in The Rescuers Down Under, & perhaps an aquarium too.

That's likely, or it is probably based off several big American cities. I only compared it to Boston because that's the big city I frequently go to. I HAVE been to New York City a few times with my family, and I have been to their Museum of Natural History and the Empire State Building, and have ridden the taxis and shopped there. But we did not eat at any fancy restaurants; our favorite place to eat out there was a pizzeria not too far from our hotel.

Then the storm clears, and the barn gently floats back to Earth as a Dorothy Gale-like voice says "There's no place like Critterville. There's no place like Critterville." Yes, Amtrak does use diesel engines, often for longer-distance trains. I often see Amtrak's Genesis series of diesels at South Station in Boston and the nearby rail yard there. Amtrak doesn't use subway routes. I know they do sometimes share the rails with the Metro-North Commuter Railroad system in Connecticut and New York, which uses electric trains that work a little similar to subways, but are not necessarily the same thing. My family and I DID ride via Amtrak to NYC for a vacation once, but both ways the train was powered by an electric locomotive (on the way back, we took the Acela Express!)

I know the train sounds here were mostly taken from the Sound Ideas Series 6000 "The General" sound effects library. Maybe the Sound Ideas crew went to the Steamtown NHS to record the sounds of the locomotives there.

There was one thing you left out in the train scene: If you clicked on the window of the back door, you'd see a silhouette of a bear taking a shower and the bubbles form at the other side, with one of them growing and enveloping Little Critter.

He doesn't do either of those things. He turns the water off after and leaves. The bubbles then pop and Little Critter is freed.

Can you please do "Let's Play"'s for "Just Me and My Dad" and "Just Me and My Grandpa"? Two reasons, one, I had "Just Me and My Dad" but I never got to see what the movie was like because our computer kept crashing when I clicked on the VCR in the movie screen after clicking on the movie button below the grasshopper, and two, I never had "Just Me and My Grandpa" and I'm curious what it was like, I'm sure it was the same option screen like the other two, but I'm just curious what the grasshopper's button was and what was in it when you clicked on it. If you can do all that, that would be most appreciated.

Weird question. My brother and I decided to play through this last night, and for some reason instead of the rapping dog appearing when we clicked on the train door, a fox being chased by a hunting party runs in and hides from them. Any idea why this might be different?
