Despite everything, this remains one of my favorite games of all time. It's so charming and I have fond memories of watching my mom play this and 6 when I was little. ❤ I play it whenever I'm having a depressive episode and it helps me feel better. Etheria is just beautiful.

Hey, I personally think King's Quest 7 is the best KQ-game in the series. I think many people are too close-minded about it. Don't compare it to Disney movies, just enjoy it and its' innovation.

When this game was released, they promoted the game as being Disney quality. But it's far below that. At least Disney Princesses usually have some identifiable personality and are part of a coherent plot.

Good GOD... The animation and voices for KQ7 makes my stomach wrench in horror! I sware I felt a bit of my brain melt out of my ears on the second half of the intro. No offence, Dilandau, I really enjoy your movies but I don't think even your commentary can save this biblically horrific game.

@VoyagesInEnglish Characters with only four fingers is quite common in animation. But I agree that for some reason it really stands out here.

I feel like this game starts off on the wrong foot if the goal was to introduce new players to the genre. Starting with Rosella's chapter first would have made a lot more sense because in Chapter 2 you have several NPCs to provide hints, one gives you a list of items, and there's no looping areas to get lost and die in. Valanice starts with no direction apart from FIND ROSELLA, which she doesn't do until the end of the game, and no sign posting apart from just wandering aimlessly. But the reason they had to force this as the first chapter is because they insisted on switching between the two characters and end with Rosella and her chapter is an even one.

@Dilandau3000 I think it's because her hands are so slender. A lot of the time, when the 4-finger style is used, the characters have larger and more... well, cartoony hands. In any case, because the two protagonists have slender hands, I think they really should have done five fingers instead of making them look like mutants. ...But then again, they didn't exactly have a decent resolution to work with. Maybe that's why.

I may be one of the few who enjoyed this game somewhat. I ALSO liked KG6 don't get me wrong, but there was something about this too that appealed to me. Same with Torins Passage and LSL7 I think.

Hmm...so far, I think I'm actually liking this Disney style. I can compare the art shift to how Humongous Entertainment went the same route: Starting with sprites, then moving to hand-drawn backgrounds and characters. But, I'm prepared to change my mind.

Omg, it showed Peter Falk as the narrator, but it's not actually Peter Falk? You made me excited and heartbroken in a single moment. I've been watching a lot of Columbo recently. :) Also, the animation is one of the big reasons I didn't buy this game when it came out. The cutesy Disney facade that works in snapshots, completely falls away after watching more than one frame at a time. I wasn't a huge fan of the Disney-wannabe aesthetic compared to the previous games, even before seeing the dreadful animation. It seriously reminds me of CD-i Zelda cutscenes every time I watch it. *Shudder* KQ6 is definitely the definitive KQ game, IMO. KQ3 had a really cool premise that led up to it. The sneaking element was really interesting in that too.

I have to say, this was where Sierra's fall began for me. As soon as I watched the intro cartoon the first time I played it (example: 3:16 Rosella has 3 fingers on each hand), I was thoroughly anti-impressed, and when the game's controls made no sense after using action icons and text parsers for so many games, I gave up. I solved the fresh water puzzle, got stuck on the next puzzle, and abandoned KQ7. We never bought KQ8. :(

I see that you are using DOSBOX to play/run this game, is there anyway you have a video or could give some information on how to get this game to work? I have the computer disk and DOSBOX downloaded on my windows 10 home, unfortunately I do not know to make it work. My friend (who is more computer smart) looked at it and he couldn't figure it out either. Thanks for anyone's help.

There are directions provided online that can help. The first thing you will want to do is mount the c:/ drive to the folder that has your games. The second thing to do is activate the C drive. Third is to essentially navigate manually to the game's executable file. If you can get as far as mounting the C drive, the rest can be thought of as manually navigating the file path. Search google for "how to load a game in dos box" on google and there should be a step by step process provided.

What's worst about this game is how it tries to be Disney / Don Bluth but misses the point entirely when it ones to why those movies are classics. The good writing, fluid animation, and endearing characters... This game lacks the first two strengths and is hit or miss with the third. It's imitation Disney that has not aged well

I forgot how ugly some of the animation in this game was. Actually, in many of my playthroughs I frequently skipped the intro, just because I didn't like the damn "I Want" song. Half the places where my family got stuck would have been solved if we didn't just start a new game and go to the next chapter whenever we didn't progress for an hour. But, more on how my family sucks at adventure games later. (This chapter is actually the one we had the easiest time with, embarrassingly.)

I can't understand all the comparisons being made to Disney animation (and negative ones at that). Have people ever actually seen a Disney movie? "Disney" apparently for a lot of people means unintelligible plots, nonexistent character motivations, forgettable songwriting and subpar artistry. I have no idea how that perception came about, but it apparently exists, and it's just not accurate. Come on, the infamous 80's cartoon adaptation of Legend of Zelda was more polished than this, for Pete's sake. Meanwhile, Disney is the company that made Pinocchio and Beauty and the Beast. Of course, I can't fault the game for not being up to par with a multi-million dollar work of art like Snow White (although that's no excuse for the writing and the characters). I'm just flabbergasted that people seem to think that the game is on par with Disney and that that's a bad thing. (If the game actually *were* reminiscent of Disney animation it would've been heralded as one of the most lavish productions and greatest technological achievements in gaming history.)

Although you're sort of right, this is not trying to imitate Disney...it's trying to imitate all the cartoons/animation in existence. In fact, everybody hates this game, from what I can tell. While I seem to remember it not as bad. Probably because it had cool puzzles. It did...right?
