I'm probably going to get told I have no life for this but I watched all of the first 100 episodes and I thought that I'd have fun and make a record of all of the deaths and kills for each of the six characters while I was a it. After that I said that I would post the updated list every ten episodes and so here is the list through the first 120 episodes. It may not be perfect. I recorded them as best as I could. But here they are. As of Episode 120 Deaths Gavin - 805 Geoff - 412 Jack - 583 Michael - 579 Ray - 568 Ryan - 455 Kills Gavin - 235 Geoff - 181 Jack - 164 Michael - 360 Ray - 233 Ryan - 255 So there it is. I'm going to record again for every ten more episodes that I watch and put those records on every tenth episode.

it's 1/8 if you flip three coins once. It's 1/2 if you flip one coin three times. I won't go into too much detail, but tosses of one individual coin count as independent events, which is always 1/2 (heads or tails). It's when you have three coins and are flipping them all once that you need to account for the combinations, since you are counting them in a grouping rather than as individual tosses.

If you flip the coin again the chance of it being heads is 1/2, but the chance of all four flips being heads is 1/16. The different flips of the same coin can be counted in a grouping as well, but as you said the individual flips, or rather, the additional flip in itself always generates a 1/2 chance for heads

It doesn't matter if I wait three weeks between each flip. The point is that you're measuring the chance of something happening before it happens. Grouping doesn't mean "all at once". It just means you have to measure the probability of everything happening. There isn't some magical law of physics that changes how coins rotate if there's more than one in the air or something. It doesn't matter if you use the same coin or 3 coins. What matters is that you're flipping three times. If I flip one coin three times, the probability of me getting HHH is 1/8 (1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2). If I flip 3 coins at the same time, the probability of me getting HHH is STILL 1/8 (1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2). There are still three coins of probability. But once the first coin lands as H (heads), the probability of both of the next coins being H is now 1/4 (1/2 * 1/2). There are now two coins of probability. The second coin is H, leaving one coin and 1/2 chance of getting a third H. All outcomes were equally as likely as HHH. There were 8 outcomes (2^3), so any of those outcomes would be 1 of 8 (1/2^3). If I waited 3 weeks between each flip and travelled all around the world, the chance of getting HHH is still 1/8 until I start flipping them.

It's been 7 years, but just because: Assuming a standard 16 card Community Chest Deck, 5 players, and 3 coin flips, define a sequence as "Gavin" pulling the "coin flip" card and getting "heads" "3" times in a row. What is this sequence's probability of occurrence? Odds of pulling a particular card: 1/16 Odds of Gavin being the player to pull that particular card: 1/5 Odds of getting heads on a coin flip: 1/2 Odds of getting heads three times in a row IN A COMPLETE SEQUENCE: (1/2)^3 =1/16*1/5*1/2*1/2*1/2 =1/16*1/5*1/8 =1/16*1/40 =1/640 There was a one in 640 chance of Gavin being the one to pull that card and then flip three heads in a row. If you want to get even more precise of overall odds, than you could take into account the odds of rolling onto the community chance space from the beginning, or the odds from whatever turn they were on, etc.

lol How amusing. I love Roosterteeth's arguments in general. The whole coin flip probability with Ryan and Gavin is just like the argument of relativity that Burnie and Gavin have. Both parties are right, but are correct on two separate questions/perspectives. Gavin is correct based off the actual question: determining the possibility of how many heads you can get in a specific amount of flips. Ryan on the other hand is correct if it was based on an individual flip, which is basically asking: what's the possibility of getting heads on this flip. The distinction between the questions holds the answer to anyone's confusion on what perspective each person is coming from. Gavin's question holds many factors other than the probability of just one flip (3 to be exact), so its incorrect to assume that the 50/50% applies to ALL three flips. That's just not how probability works in that linear data scheme.

Holy shit. Never have I seen more people that don't know how to into probability. If you haven't flipped ANY coins yet, then the combination of THREE heads occurring is 12.5%. After one head has already been gotten, the combination of TWO heads occurring is 25%. After two heads have already been gotten, ONE more head being flipped is a 50% chance. It's not 12.5% on the last head, and it's not 50% on landing 3 heads in a row. It's 12.5% of landing 3, 25% of landing 2, 50% of landing one. The universe does NOT hold a track record. After a result has been obtained, it no longer factors into the equation.
