Tnx for this one Ash, and tell Owen tnx too! While I enjoy a range of different miniature games, these kinds of games has always suited me the best! I love when a few models strategically move around a table soaking up damage like its nothing! This seems to be quick and easy to manage without the need ro remember countless special rules and situations for every model, or to go through a handful of cards at every possible phase of the game to make sure opportunities arent missed or forgotten. It just looks to be such a well put together system that leaves the player free of cards and fiddly rules and instead focus on maneuvering and planning. I really hope you guys do a lot of AT down the line!

Hmm, heres a low budget idea, basic set of rules. Card cutouts on the correct sized bases. Existing 40k terrain (basic hills etc) Also noticed that if they ever actually introduced infantry and vehicles into the game, they will need to simplify the titan/vehicle rules a lot, if they don't the game may get bogged down in record keeping.

That Fire Wasp Imperator is great even for an older model, I'd love to see more, but you're right, some variety would be great. I wouldn't actually be opposed to more varied installations and units (like super-heavy tanks), but I know they might not want to distract from the main purpose.

They've since released another variant of the warlord titan. With different weapons and heads. And most likely there are plans in place for all the rest of the weapons. I do see your point though more than just volcano cannons would've been good.

Thanks for the gameplay video! I've bought the rules set as a result of seeing it in action, looking forward to how Adeptus Titanicus unfolds over the next few months. Quick question about the Belicosa Volcano Cannons and the "Draining Trait" - you said in the video that this will require you to push the reactor, however according to the (poor quality) scan of the rules it says this: "Some weapons have (Draining) after another trait - this means that they do not have the trait by default, but if they push the reactor before attacking with this weapon, it gains the trait for the duration of the attack." Since Volcano Cannons have blast (5") as their first trait, presumably that means they are only "Draining" if you have already pushed the reactor that turn? I don't know if that would have affected you decisions during the game - I can't remember if you pushed the reactor to move each time? :) Is my reading of the rules correct do you think? Loved this video Ash, fantastic job! Just one comment - pretty sure if you're using Advanced rules you roll for the Volcano Cannon as a draining weapon rather than just adding one to the reactor automatically (which is the way that reactor strain works in basic rules). Makes the Volcano Cannon a risky weapon to use and a twinned set of them even more so! Keep up the good work, I'm a huge fan of the channel!

Just theory crafting but if you were to use Mainstay of the Legio in a Venator Maniple would both Reavers get a free shot when a void gets popped? If so methinks a Bolt-hound squadron backed by a pair of Volcano Reavers could be pretty tasty?

One more comment- I think you should (Humbly) ask GW for a few more promotional Titans for this game. This vid has the highest views on yt for their new game, is the best presentation of the rules, yet your working with only ONE of the official models. They could do a lot better given your reach. The Game is built for 3-5 Titans per side, so even if they sent you one Reaver and one warhound you still wouldn't be able to get so many good games in against friends who don’t have it, especially if the Warlords are all dual volcano cannons. Just a thought ash!

Emailed them, for what its worth. Also for next games here are some 'Rules you got Wrong' spotted after the 2nd game - Not in an aggressive way though just a learning way! Volcano: Blast Weapons: ‘whether or not the marker is moved…If the central hole is over a model’s base, that model is hit TWICE’: The volcano cannons can roll TWO strength hits if the template hole is beneath the Imperator Titan, but as blast weapon they cannot make targeted attacks. Knights: For damage : ‘When a Knight is destroyed, the controlling player chooses one Knight to remove. The Banners structure point marker is then immediately reset to the first hole of the track’. Remember to reset the track of a banner after a Knight is killed, and put the shaken order on. Sunfury: When a weapon fires on Maximal fire mode, it drains the reactor for every 1 rolled on the hit rolls, not automatically. EDIT: Glancing hits. I think rolls of 1 on strength rolls are always glancing hits and do no damage, regardless of any modifiers or the weapon used, not 100% sure though.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty positive that when changing directions during your movement it subtracts additional inches. So you don't get your full movement range.

It is ridiculous that it took GW 30 years to bring this back. I remember just missing out on buying this back in the day, I saw it in the store but didn't pick it up, went back later and found that was a stock clearance sale. I really wanted to get into the one with the Mega-Gargant and Imperator titan. They messed around half-heartedly with the Epic scale stuff over the years, but with titans relegated to glorified support. I just wanted ALL THE TITANS omfg.

Don't forget the Tyranid titans!! I know GW said introducing tanks, infantry, artillery, and flyers took the focus away from the titans (when the launched Epic). So I am assuming there will be no Epic Space Marine? I could see heavy tanks and the bombers and other flyers in this game, like Thunderhawks, etc. We will have to wait to see if a different game will bring back Epic Space Marine or if it is gone the way of the squats.

Its not going to happen. GW are VERY touchy about cannibalizing profits from their flagship games. Shareholders don't understand or care about what is cool or fun. They just see 1 game taking market share from their cash cow and want it to stop. If GW can put that game into a different subsidiary company then that subsidiary looks good as long as it turns a profit. They basically killed epic and BFG for that reason. 30k is relegated to forge world so its "off the books" while it goes into decline and they kill it off and this game is getting the same treatment. Forgeworld gets a huge frontloaded boost so it looks good on a balance sheet and then the game can fade out without hurting GW's financial report.

The big box is already sold out and gone from the website. It wasn't a starter to begin with, just a compilation box for two players. This game doesn't really have a conventional starter box. I just bought the rules box, and 3 knights. And i'm either going to get a warlord next or wait a month for the reaver.

I thought the original 'was' 6mm? But this now being 8mm fits in perfectly w/ the industry's "Buy Me" Proprietary sizing per game. Ex. SW Legion, could have easily been 28's, but IIRC, they kicked it up to 32mm.

I actually like the very original Space Marine scale (5mm?) - I think the old-pattern rhinos, Land Raiders and beaky marines look great next to the Warlords and I am incorporating a few in my terrain and bases.

It's a game I'd quite like to try, the knights look amazing, I just don't think it'll have a massive uptake at my FLGS just because it seems expensive for what you get. It might be one of those games I pick up slowly and then run a demo eventually. The rules seem really grindy too, like a lot of micromanagement. That's definitely a huge change from AoS/Kill Team/40k.

Funny thing, with the old Knights, the Ground assets look waaay more appropriately sized. The makro canon bunker (not even the gun itself) looks about as large as Warlords head. This isn't that much, certainly not "makro".

No... Knight Banners are support units. You still need to take one of the Maniple styles to form the core of your force.

Okay but it just feels wrong that tiny knights can "pin" a Titan by surrounding it. The titan should simply displace the knights as it moves. I can understand other titans doing it but not knights. I hope this is just mistaken rules, though ill hold judgement until ive played myself.

Waited for this for so long and the rules system is amazing Been huge fan of Titan Legions (same generations as Ash I think!), but it will be interesting to see how well the game does. The game system seems VERY good, its just that it is very expensive and there is not much ‘cross polinaiton’ to other aspects of the hobby (buildings etc), so I think a lot of people will be put off by it. It almost could have been better to go for a “Dreadfleet” type game with different types of titans and models in the basic rules. Two titans in the grand master edition just feels very little for the price. But we will see, and its still a great game!

I predict this is going to bomb hard. The price is ridiculous for entry into a new scale and has scared off everybody I know (who is not getting sponsored). And from what I have seen so far, the game is unsatisfying with the models included so you can't even get a good game in unless you buy another $100+ of models that don't exist yet.

michael juul Yeah, the Warlord is the slowest Titan class. You’d pretty much have to double move and possibly push the reactors every turn to make it, I think. But that’s still a thing you can do if you choose, which is actually a great sign for the game as a whole, just not this particular matchup…

I’ll be honest, using the Imperator made this far more interesting as the loadout on the stock Warlord is hard pressed to collapse enemy shields and actually land hull impacts.

That's a great review and the game looks interesting. With the unique scale and expensive models I think this will be another Inquisitor. So I feel happy/sad about this game. I'd have been far more interested if I could play with my 6mm models and terrain. GW could still have made loads of sales with cool new models but could have turned the old Epic community into game ambassadors rather than people who will play IT6mm. I used to enjoy playing titan legions back in the old days and some of the best games we had as a club were large scale epic multi player games. 30 years later people still talk about the time we used a dictaphone as the comms system for messages. I hope GW don't do this with BFG when they redo it. Some awesome space marine strike cruisers and battle barges with optional modules duking it out in the Heresy era would make for a great starter game.

Damage flow and allocation for melee should have been based on relative sizes of attacker and defender: knights for example should have no chance of hitting head and a high chance of hitting legs on a target that size, etc.

i want to play a couple of different games with my machines i am in the middle of building, painting & magnetizing mine so i can change armour so i don't have to spend money on two or 3 different armies i only need technically one or two boxes of each kit and a shed loads of different armour spru's oh and heads and weapons which will work out expensive but i'm happy with that the colours may vary but the houses will remain the same

Now that this is out. How long will it take for infantry, tanks, artillery, and planes to join them? All I know is that I will be waiting for that.

I don't think they'll add infantry in the beginning. You clearly could, but the focus seems to be on the big stuff.

in a game where titans only move 6 inches per turn, and knights go 10 or 20 if they run, infantry would essentially be static and tanks only move 3 inches or so.

I am talking about when and if models would join them in being able to be purchased, not sharing the same ruleset.

john tailby in 28mm scale, Knights move about twice as fast as infantry and the same speed as most other vehicles. So a regular infantry unit could well keep pace with a Warlord (Skitarii marching alongside one of their gods is a great image) and a mech. infantry unit and tanks could keep pace with the other Titans just fine.

The game is shockingly pricy at £175 - but online retailers such as Darksphere or Wayland games are 20% off - making it a bit less horrendous. I paint rather than play, looking forward to the Warhounds plus Forgeworld decals / weapons. Hopefully Forgeworld will remake the original 'beetle back' Warlords in the new epic scale

Be careful with online retailers. A lof of them are sending out refunds as they can't get the stock volume they want.
