Gutierrez is known as “Death to Flying Things” because in his prime he was one of the best outfield defensive players in baseball
@ABastedo_Writing03035 жыл бұрын
If I remember right, "Death to Flying Things" was also the nickname of a very, very, very old time-y old fielder named Bob Ferguson who played right around when baseball was invented. Gutierrez was darn good when he was healthy though...
@swirvinbirds19715 жыл бұрын
It was what legendary Hall of Fame Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus called him. The nickname stuck. Famous Dave Niehaus player nicknames- "A-Rod" - first to call Alex Rodriguez "A-Rod"[6] "Death to Flying Things" - first to call Franklin Gutiérrez by his current nickname[7] "The Kid" - Niehaus's name for Ken Griffey, Jr.[8]

Not to comment on a two year old video, but the interesting thing about Narvaez is that in two different RTTS 20 saves, I've seen him become an all star for a year or two and he'll pretty regularly hit above .300. I was actually kind of surprised he didn't make the HOF in one of the saves, considering that he played until he was forty and ended with like a .290ish average.

Hey what does the player evaluation AI settings do exactly does it just affecting trading?
@FoolishBaseball6 жыл бұрын
Yes. It affects how teams value players. For example, my settings put more emphasis on stats and less on ratings. This mainly comes into play during trades.

That's right! I've been really missing his works this time of year. Another KATOH guy I'm keeping my eye on is Daz Cameron in the Tigers organization.
@patrickhealy11985 жыл бұрын
@@FoolishBaseball You mean for this series or in real life? Daz does look like a stud, a 22 year old in the high minors... A couple guys I have my eyes on are Mitch Garver, a catcher for the Twins, and Teoscar Hernandez, a guy with huge power/huge K's in the Blue Jays system. Also, do you know about Willians Astudillo? He's absolutely incredible with his bat control, he has a 5% strikeout rate in the majors. Btw, I know this series is 8 months old but it's the best OOTP series I've found. I like how you use sabermetrics but not religiously. Thanks for the quick reply on an old video haha
